The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has declared state of emergency<\/strong><\/span> throughout the territory of the country until May 15.\u00a0New cases of infection with COVID-19 were confirmed, as the number of diagnosed people reached 30.<\/p>\n

Despite the tough situation, there are people that offer their contribution and help. Here are just some examples of the good deeds Moldovans did during the last days: several restaurants started to offer free food to doctors, teachers deliver free courses for students, fitness trainers post online sport classes, taxi companies drive doctors to work for free, young musicians organise live concerts online for those isolated at home, groups of volunteers willing to take care of their elderly neighbours by going to stores or pharmacies instead of them, donations for the basic needs of doctors who take care for those infected and suspected of COVID-19, etc.<\/p>\n

The crisis caused by the new type of coronavirus motivated the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to join forces and to try to be useful.<\/p>\n

One example of doing good deeds was launching free services for organising ad-hoc, private meetings for the employees of companies that work from home<\/span>, provided by the live streaming platform<\/a> privesc.eu.<\/p>\n

Also, a positive impact was generated by the Technical University of Moldova professors,\u00a0Ion Jardan,\u00a0Sergiu Corlat and Ana Costa\u0219 who decided to deliver online their\u00a0preparing courses for final high school exams<\/span>, on a publicly available Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As the gyms are closed and daily activities are limited, Fit Mami project, founded by Irina Galbura, announced that free workouts<\/span> will be posted on their Facebook page under the TABATA EXPRESS program<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Several car owners offered their car for sharing to doctors<\/span> within the infoimpact.md platform<\/a>. Moreover, a taxi company\u00a0put their 900 cars at the disposal of the medical staff.<\/p>\n

A small initiative group from Moldova started a fundraising campaign<\/a> on the Gofundme<\/strong> platform, the collected\u00a0 money being re-directed to procure necessary\u00a0 things for doctors:\u00a0<\/span>water, tea, coffee, food, drinks, masks, gloves, oxygen masks, disinfectants, soap, etc. The fundraising campaign was launched on March 16 and, since then, over 15 000 euros have already been collected.<\/p>\n

Private companies began to make donations to the Republican Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases “Toma Ciorb\u0103” – the main medical entity where COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, some restaurants committed to deliver hot lunches for doctors of the strategic hospitals from the capital city, as well as for police and ambulance crews<\/span>. “It is our duty to support the medical institutions, which are on the front line in the fight against COVID-19. We must understand that it is necessary to show solidarity, because only together we can face the epidemic and overcome its adverse consequences,”<\/em>\u00a0said Igor Ro\u015fca, the director of a donating company.<\/p>\n

The activists Vitalie Spr\u00e2ncean\u0103 and Lilia Nenescu posted on the door of the building where they are living in an announcement, saying that they are available to buy groceries or medicines instead of their elderly neighbour<\/span>s.<\/p>\n

More is yet to come, but that doesn’t mean people can not remain positive, empathetic and support each other with everything they can.<\/p>\n
