A delegation from the Republic of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, paid a\u00a0working visit<\/strong> to the Russian Federation on November 20th. There,\u00a0Prime Minister Chicu had a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, with whom\u00a0he discussed the relationship between Moldova and Russian Federation, according to ria.ru<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The heads of the executives addressed issues of Russian-Moldovan cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, agricultural, cultural and humanitarian fields.<\/p>\n

Medvedev noted that this visit is the first at the level of the Prime Minister of Moldova in Russia<\/span> over the past six years, at the same time, appreciating that Chicu’s Government first official visit<\/span> was to Moscow.<\/p>\n

“A lot has been missed in recent years. Frankly, I\u2019m not sure that this favoured your country, that it brought any additional opportunities. On the contrary, I think we’ve wasted this time. I hope that now we can still make up for lost opportunities,”<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Russian Prime Minister said.<\/p>\n

In turn, Chicu noted that the visit was connected not only with the long absence of dialogue between the Governments of Russia and Moldova and a large number of accumulated issues, but also with the common vision in the field of investment and social policy the countries have, as he stated.<\/p>\n

“I came to resume dialogue between our governments on many aspects of our cooperation. A lot of problems have accumulated. I believe that in a professional and honest dialogue, the existing problems can be resolved. Also,\u00a0 trade, economic cooperation, humanitarian and cultural cooperation can be boosted, ”\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>declared the Prime Minister of Moldova.<\/p>\n

According to a Government of Moldova official statement<\/a>, topics of national importance, such as supply Russian natural gas<\/strong> to Moldova, export<\/strong> of Moldovan agricultural products to the Russian market (especially the extension of the list of Moldovan companies that will be able to export to Russia without taxes) and increasing the number of authorisations for carriers to transport<\/strong> products to Russia (an issue related to the transit of goods through Ukraine) are to be discussed these days, during the official visit of the Moldovan delegation.<\/p>\n

After the meeting of Prime Ministers, the topic of gas delivery was discussed<\/a> by Prime Minister Chicu and the chairman of\u00a0Gazprom<\/strong> Board of Directors, Alexei Miller. The parties examined the conditions of supply of natural gas to the consumers of the Republic of Moldova, the prices for the supplied resource, but also the implementation of the Energy Package III.<\/p>\n
