In June 2018, Andrei N\u0103stase, one of the candidates who was running for mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, won the local elections. However, his mandate was invalidated<\/a>. The stated reason was the electoral agitation he made on the day of pre-election silence through a video posted on social media.<\/p>\n

After one year and four months, the Court of Appeal (CA) Chi\u0219in\u0103u completely overturned the decision of the Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court, which annulled the mandate of Andrei N\u0103stase after the local elections of 2018.<\/p>\n

The appeal against the decision previously taken by the judge Rodica Berdilo at the Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court was submitted last year, the affected parties requesting the confirmation of the legality of the local elections of the mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u and validation of N\u0103stase’s mandate.<\/p>\n

Thus, the CA Chi\u0219in\u0103u issued a new decision confirming the results of the local elections of 2018 and validating the mayor mandate of Andrei N\u0103stase.<\/p>\n

Asked by Ziarul de Gard\u0103<\/a>, the member of Central Election Commission (CEC) Maxim Lebedinschi declared that, by the decision taken today by magistrates, Andrei N\u0103stase can exercise the position of mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u until the validation of the new mayor mandate, who will be elected on October 20th<\/sup>, 2019.<\/p>\n
