Yesterday, the 25th of March, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has officially invited<\/a> the leaders of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) and those of the political bloc ACUM at the State Residence to discussions on the matter of creation of a parliamentary majority.<\/p>\n

14:00 Igor Dodon had a meeting with his former colleagues from the PSRM<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a closed-door discussion, the PSRM leader, Zinaida Grecean\u00eei, declared<\/a> that the Socialists are ready to form a parliamentary majority, in particular, with the political bloc ACUM. “Our door remains open for the bloc ACUM, but it seems that their ego is much more important,”<\/em> Grecean\u00eei said. The Socialists are ready to negotiate under certain conditions before creating a parliamentary majority, considering that it’t their right to propose the candidatures for key positions in the government, according to the declarations during a press conference<\/a> held after the meeting with the President of the Republic Moldova.<\/p>\n\n

15:00 Igor Dodon had a meeting with the representatives of the DPM<\/strong><\/p>\n

The State Residence was visited<\/a> by Vlad Palhotniuc, Pavel Filip and Andrian Candu – the representatives of the DPM. Vlad Plahotniuc expressed his optimism regarding reaching, ultimately, after several discussions, a common understanding with other parties.\u00a0 “In case the snap elections will be organised, it won’t make the DPM accountable for them. The DPM is open to dialogue with all political parties that want to avoid the political crisis. In this context, the DPM intends to form a parliamentary majority as soon as possible,”<\/em> the Democrat declared during the DPM press conference<\/a>. However, neither the PSRM nor the bloc ACUM didn’t express their willingness to discuss or negotiate with the DPM.<\/p>\n\n

The last on the list were the leaders of the political bloc ACUM. The first noticed thing: Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase, the bloc’s leaders, refused<\/a> to shake hands with the head of state Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

“Citizens of this country no longer trust the state. The country must first be liberated from oligarchic structures before solving other issues. We have come up with concrete proposals, and if other members of the Parliament have other proposals, we are ready to listen to them and discuss it on the parliamentary platform. We are not the ones pushing the country to snap elections,”<\/em> said Maia Sandu, the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity, at the press conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After all the organised meetings with the leaders of the political parties that entered the Parliament, President Igor Dodon\u00a0mentioned<\/a> that he had proposed them to meet again on April 2nd at the State Residence to discuss the further actions.<\/p>\n

Today, the leaders of the bloc ACUM proposed, in an earlier\u00a0press briefing,<\/a>\u00a0the candidacy of Andrei N\u0103stase, the leader of the DTPP, as the president of the Parliament, and the leader of PAS, Maia Sandu, for the position of the prime minister. The bloc announced their solution of escaping the political vacuum by forming a minority government on the responsibility of the political bloc ACUM. In this regard, 3 concrete steps were announced:<\/p>\n

1. Appoint and vote on Andrei N\u0103stase’s candidacy as the President of Parliament.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Voting in the Parliament on the anti-oligarchic laws proposed\u00a0by the bloc ACUM, including the adoption of the Declaration of Parliament on the captured character of the state institutions, adjustment of the necessary normative framework for: the dismissal of the General Prosecutor of the Information and Security Service, the leadership of the National Anti-corruption\u00a0Center, the members of the Audiovisual Council, as well as the leadership of the National Integrity Authority, and the Supreme Court of Justice.<\/b><\/p>\n

3. Once these laws are adopted, the bloc ACUM takes the responsibility for the Government, which would be a minority government.<\/strong><\/p>\n
