Today, the two Moldovan citizens, Lionel Buruiana and Mihai Crihan, who have been held hostage for 3.5 years in Afghanistan, have finally arrived in Moldova.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration informs that Lionel Buruiana and Mihai Crihan are currently in charge of the state authorities, which undertake the legal and administrative steps to ensure their reintegration conditions.<\/p>\n

The health of the two pilots is good, but they will stay under the supervision of doctors for a while and the protection of the state authorities will manage their case.<\/p>\n

On November 24, 2015, a helicopter of a Moldovan company carrying 21 people, including three Moldovans, made an emergency landing in Afghanistan and the persons on board were taken hostage.<\/p>\n

Four people were killed. Among the deceased was the crew captain, Oleg Groza.<\/p>\n

In mid-February President Igor Dodon announced at a press conference about the release of the two pilots captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2015. The head of state said that the two pilots were brought by plane to Moscow thanks to the Russian authorities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shortly thereafter, Andrian Candu, Parliament Speaker, said that the Chisinau authorities had spent more time in this case and accused someone of having intervened at the last minute so that Moldovan citizens arrived in Moscow where “electoral hostages are held”.<\/p>\n
