The parliamentary elections took place in Moldova. The ballot was held for the first time on the basis of the mixed electoral system. The polling stations in the country closed at 21:00. There were only a few polling stations that prolonged their activity, due to the high number of citizens who waited to vote.<\/p>\n

According to the online data<\/a> submitted by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), until this moment, 1 450 769<\/strong> voters exercised their voting right, which represents 49.18%<\/strong> of the total registered population. The data will be final once the polling stations abroad are closed. Out of those who voted, around 53%<\/strong> are women. The most active voters were aged between 56 and 70, representing about 32%<\/strong> of the total number of citizens.<\/p>\n

For the parliamentary election of the Republic of Moldova and the republican consultative referendum, 2141<\/strong> polling stations were opened, of which 47 polling stations were organized for voters from Transnistria and 123 polling stations were opened outside of the country.<\/p>\n

Alina Rusu, the president of the CEC, declared during a press conference<\/a>\u00a0that more than 37,000<\/strong> citizens from the Transnistrian region voted today. In the same time, a number of only 74 thousand<\/strong> Moldovan citizens living abroad have voted by this hour.<\/p>\n

The leaders of the electoral bloc ACUM \u2013 Maia Sandu and Andrei N\u0103stase announced today that they will not recognize the validity of the elections held in two districts of Transnistria. They call the election observation missions to declare the elections in those two constituencies as contrary to the OSCE and the Council of Europe standards and not to recognize them.<\/p>\n

“These elections are carried out with serious violations. Everyone has been able to see that thousands of people are brought in an organized way by hundreds of buses at the polling stations opened on the right side of the Dniester. They come to vote in a situation where they know nothing about the Moldovan parties.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to a Moldova.org reporter<\/a>, voters from Transnistria were transported by bus in Varni\u021ba and Hajimus \u2013 two polling stations on the right side of the Dniester. Additionally, people were told for whom to vote and received a sum of about 20 dollars, after they showed the \u201cvoted\u201d stamp from their IDs.<\/p>\n

Immediately after the information appeared in the media, the CEC stated that, according to the electoral legislation, there are no bans on the transportation of citizens to the polling stations. Nothing was mentioned about bribing the voters.<\/p>\n

Sandu claimed<\/a> that the bloc will file a criminal complaint against the head of the General Police Inspectorate, Alexandru P\u00e2nzari, “for negligence in the exercise of his duties” and will request the criminal prosecution of Alina Russu, the CEC president for obstructing the right to vote in the diaspora and abuse of power.<\/p>\n

It is important to remind that the citizens of the Republic of Moldova living abroad couldn\u2019t exercise their right to vote by using an expired passport, as compared to previous elections held in Moldova.<\/p>\n

Andrei N\u0103stase also denounced massive frauds in the single-seat constituency where he is running for parliament member. He mentioned the falsification of electoral rolls and organization of people from other single-seat constituencies to vote for the candidate of the Democratic Party of Moldova \u2013 Constantin \u0162u\u0163u.<\/p>\n

“We are talking about thousands of people who registered their homes in a fictitious and illegal way in the localities of our constituency.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
