The leaders of the electoral bloc ACUM \u2013 Maia Sandu and Andrei N\u0103stase, along with Igor Munteanu, the bloc\u2019s candidate on a single-seat constituency, claimed that the President of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon, presented at the Munich Security Conference, held during the last weekend, a federalisation plan of the country. The declarations were made today at a press conference<\/a> organised by the electoral bloc ACUM.<\/p>\n

“A few days ago, at the Munich Security Conference, Igor Dodon put a federalisation plan on the table to his Western partners. This is a Russian plan that contradicts the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, aimed at the \u2018transnistrisation\u2019 of Moldova,”<\/strong> said Igor Munteanu.<\/p>\n

According to Munteanu, the President Dodon betrays Moldova as federalization means destroying the state and creating on its ruins a Bosnian protectorate separated on cantons with foreign military forces on its territory. Moreover, the mentioned document does not clarify the way the Transnistrian region would be returned under the constitutional control of the Republic of Moldova. Also, the Moldovan government would have to legalise the current power structures from Tiraspol, as Munteanu declares.<\/p>\n

He added that the document suggests exclusive elements of sovereignty for Transnistria that, as a consequence, will help the separatist regime break the blockade of its external non-recognition without any benefit for Moldova.<\/p>\n

Andrei N\u0103stase mentioned that the plan was a common idea of Vladimir Plahotniuc, the leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova and Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Maia Sandu has called for stopping of all discussions regarding \u201cthis unconstitutional, illegal document\u201d. “We will inform the international community and we will oppose the continuation of discussions on this unconstitutional plan,”<\/strong> she said.<\/p>\n

The leaders of the electoral bloc ACUM declared that this information comes from several sources, including from people who participated in the Munich Security Conference. \u201cThis plan was circulating in Western chancelleries since September, but we managed to obtain a copy of this plan only at the Munich Conference,\u201d<\/strong> said Munteanu.<\/p>\n

The Moldovan presidency spokeswoman, Carmena Sterpu, said she would come back with a reaction.<\/p>\n

Igor Dodon previously announced<\/a> that he presented at the Munich Security Conference his vision on the foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova, reiterating his position on advancing of a \u201cbalanced foreign policy, maintaining and strengthening the principle of permanent neutrality\u201d of the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The President Igor Dodon had a meeting<\/a> at Munich on Saturday, February 16th<\/sup>, with Elmar Brock, German MEP, in which he exchanged views on the relations between Chi\u0219in\u0103u and Brussels, as well as on the domestic and foreign political situation in Moldova.<\/p>\n
