The Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova (CARM) will carry out<\/a> a public audit regarding the technical assistance project of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova building reconstruction.<\/p>\n

The Parliament adopted a decision in this regard on February 7th. The topic of reconstruction of the Presidency building was discussed in the Parliament at the initiative<\/a> of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM). They declared the project as being conducted with violation of the law and the selection process of the companies that executed the reconstruction work as being not transparent.<\/p>\n

The PCRM claimed that the enterprises were selected without a tender organisation, the documents for the submission of works were missing, and the list of works didn’t correspond to the estimated expenses.<\/p>\n

We remind that the edifice of the Moldovan Presidency, devastated by the protests of 7 April 2009, was repaired in 2018. The reconstruction project of the building had a cost of about 10 million EUR that was fully covered by the Turkish Government. The project included the building reparation and purchase of the necessary furniture.<\/p>\n

On the same day as the Parliament decision, Marian Lupu, the vice-president<\/a> of the Democratic Party of Moldova and a former member of the PCRM, was appointed<\/a>\u00a0new President of the Court of Accounts of the Republic of Moldova.
