Moldova.org will do the same. So, here are the most important events that happened in the Republic of Moldova in 2018.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>January<\/h4>\n<p>A new year, the old procedures: Igor Dodon, the President of the Republic of Moldova was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipn.md\/en\/arhiva\/88593\">suspended<\/a> several <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipn.md\/en\/arhiva\/88650\">times<\/a> as he refused to sign the presidential decrees proposed by the government. People were asking themselves: \u201cwhy do we need a President that can be replaced at any time?\u201d No answer came.<\/p>\n<p>People got to know that the Presidency of Moldova\u2019s reconstruction was going to be financed from a 7-million-euro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/editia-print\/politic\/doc-donatie-de-milioane-de-euro-pentru-reparatia-cladirii-presedintiei\">donation<\/a> made by the Turkish government. The cost for this donation was to be revealed later.<\/p>\n<p>Moldova experienced a new wave of power usurpation through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipn.md\/en\/arhiva\/88764\">refusal<\/a> of the Central Electoral Commission to register an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipn.md\/en\/arhiva\/88825\">initiative group<\/a> that had as its main goal the abrogation of the mixed electoral system.<\/p>\n<h4>June<\/h4>\n<p>The middle of the year was marked by the most booming court decision &#8211; the decision of the Court of Appeal from Moldova by which the municipal elections in Chisinau were <a href=\"https:\/\/stirileprotv.ro\/stiri\/international\/curtea-suprema-din-r-moldova-decide-daca-mentine-anularea-alegerilor-pentru-primaria-chisinau.html\">declared invalid<\/a>, motivating that Andrei N\u0103stase and his opponent, the Socialist Ion Ceban, called for mobilization to vote on election day, on social networks, this being qualified as electoral campaigning.<\/p>\n<h4>July<\/h4>\n<p>The invalidation of the municipal elections in Chi\u0219in\u0103u had as a major consequence the organisation of <a href=\"https:\/\/adevarul.ro\/moldova\/politica\/video-protest-fata-parlamentului-chisinau-manifestantii-cerut-respectarea-rezolutiei-protestul-1-iulie-pman-1_5b3dbd6ddf52022f75dddf06\/index.html\">mass protests<\/a>. It was organised purposefully on the same day with another anti-governmental protest led by the extra-governmental opposition \u2013 the PAS and DTPP. The main square of the Moldovan capital was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/thousands-protests-in-moldovan-capital-chanting-down-with-the-mafia-\/29454081.html\">split into two<\/a> by the police. On one half of the square, people were asking for the dissolution of the current parliament and the resignation of people holding key positions in the judiciary system. On the other half, the so-called protestants were demanding for buckwheat and more canned meat, while dancing and having fun. That was the most representative and desolating image of the society\u2019s dispersion in Moldova: those driven by the wish of change and those consumed by physical cravings.<\/p>\n<p>The next morning, the riot police forcibly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/more-antigovernment-protests-expected-on-moldova-s-independence-day\/29455217.html\">removed<\/a> the anti-governmental protesters who spent the night near the symbolic statue of Stephen the Great on the main square, after they had ordered them to vacate the area to make way for government officials. According to the lawyer of the Turkish citizens, they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/stiri\/stiri-politice\/avocata-cei-7-profesori-turci-sunt-intr-un-penitenciar-de-langa-istanbul-au-fost-scoase-din-tara-cu-o-alta-identitate\">removed<\/a> from Moldova with another identity and sentenced in a prison next to Istanbul. Some opinions <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jurnaltv.md\/news\/c50a527094fac8e6\/vasile-nastase-sapte-profesori-turci-au-fost-vanduti-pe-10-milioane-de-euro-moldova-e-stat-terorist.html\">stated<\/a> that the Turkish teachers were \u201csold\u201d to the Turkish government for the sum donated for the Presidency building reconstruction.<\/p>\n<h4>October<\/h4>\n<p>There are still positive events that happened in 2018. In October, for example, the Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot <a href=\"http:\/\/diez.md\/2018\/10\/28\/tenismenul-moldovean-radu-albot-castigat-turneul-de-tip-challenger-de-la-liuzhou-din-china\/\">became the winner<\/a> of the Liuzhou Challenger Competition. Thus, the adoption of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expert-grup.org\/en\/biblioteca\/item\/1658-amnistia-de-capital-in-moldova-ce-riscuri-aduce-si-de-ce-trebuie-privita-indeaproape\">Capital Amnesty law<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/law-citizenship-investments-moldova-embracing-great-opportunities-risks\/\">Citizenship by investment law<\/a> could facilitate the legalisation of the extracted money from the Moldovan bank system in \u201cThe Great Moldovan Bank Robbery\u201d and could attract new financial sources from people that want to \u201cbuy\u201d the Moldovan citizenship.<\/p>\n<h4>December<\/h4>\n<p>On December 1<sup>st<\/sup>, Romania and the Republic of Moldova celebrated 100 years from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/great-union-now-romanian-nation-celebrate-100-years-unification\/\">Great Union<\/a>. Whereas Romanians celebrated this day with parades, manifestations and concerts (this day is a national holiday in Romania), Moldovans were silent, melancholic and divided between east and west. Just like always!<\/p>\n<p>The best is not yet to come: in February 2019, the Moldovan citizens will decide who will represent them in the parliament and in the national uninominal constituencies, as a result of the mixt electoral system. Thus, the adoption of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expert-grup.org\/en\/biblioteca\/item\/1658-amnistia-de-capital-in-moldova-ce-riscuri-aduce-si-de-ce-trebuie-privita-indeaproape\">Capital Amnesty law<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/law-citizenship-investments-moldova-embracing-great-opportunities-risks\/\">Citizenship by investment law<\/a> could facilitate the legalisation of the extracted money from the Moldovan bank system in \u201cThe Great Moldovan Bank Robbery\u201d and could attract new financial sources from people that want to \u201cbuy\u201d the Moldovan citizenship.<\/p>\n<h4>December<\/h4>\n<p>On December 1<sup>st<\/sup>, Romania and the Republic of Moldova celebrated 100 years from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/great-union-now-romanian-nation-celebrate-100-years-unification\/\">Great Union<\/a>.
