The Democratic Party (PDM), the Socialist Party (PSRM) and the “Shor” Party had revenues<\/a> of tens of millions of lei in 2018, all from so-called donations, party membership contributions and subsidies from the state budget. The parties have invested most of the money in promoting their image in the press and through promotional materials, office maintenance,\u00a0and employee remuneration.<\/p>\n

The leader in revenue and expenditure this year is the ruling party. Vlad Plahotniuc’s Democratic Party had a total budget of 61.4 million lei<\/strong>, an equivalent amount, for example, with the money allocated by the state in 2018 to all rural town halls in the Nisporeni district, 23 in number.<\/p>\n

The PDM budget was made up of the 14 million lei<\/strong> of the party in 2017, the donations of 19.5 million lei<\/strong>, the contributions of 19.4 million lei<\/strong> of the over 54 thousand members of the party and state subsidies worth 7.5 million lei<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Recently, RISE Moldova has published<\/a> an investigation in which they found out that many of PDM’s “sponsors” did not know they were included in the donors’ list or were presented as party members.<\/p>\n

Between January 1st 2018 and December 10th 2018, PDM spent over 38 million romanian lei. The majority of the money, 29.8 million lei, was invested for promotion in the press and through the propagandistic materials. The maintenance of the seats cost the party over three million lei, and the travels in the country and abroad – 1.7 million lei.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Well, PDM claims that only 1.9 million lei have been spent on organizing meetings and public demonstrations.<\/h3>\n

What about Dodon’s Socialist Party?<\/p>\n

With a total budget of 17.5 million lei<\/strong>, PSRM spent 4.5 million lei for press and promotional materials, 2 million lei for office maintenance, 768.000 lei for the salary of party employees and 289.000\u00a0lei for telecommunication.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Although the leadership of the PSRM had several trips to the Russian Federation, the report on financial management states that it has not spent any leu for travel in the country and abroad.<\/h3>\n

What about Shor’s party?<\/p>\n

Officially, the party “Shor” had incomes of 14.9 million lei<\/strong> in 2018. In the Report on the financial management filed with the CEC, the management asserts that for the political activity during the year, 14.8 million lei were spent, were paid for the press and promotional materials (4.2 million lei), for the maintenance of the premises (3.4 million lei), for the rent of the subdivisions and the payment of the communal services (2.4 million lei), for remuneration of the party’s employees 1.2 million lei) and investments in movable and immovable goods for the needs of the party (1.2 million lei).<\/p>\n

Like the Socialist Party, Shor claims not having spent any money for travel in the country and abroad. Organizing rallies and public demonstrations, supports party leadership at the CEC, costing over 898,000 lei.<\/p>\n
