The Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM) and the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) announced their candidates on the party list for the parliamentary elections. When examining the list of candidates, it can be observed that no new names are brought to the political arena. The same people that have been public officials are proposed as candidates for the future elections.<\/p>\n

The Democratic Party of Moldova<\/h3>\n

The national DPM list<\/a> includes 53 names, whereas the list of candidates for the uninominal constituencies includes 51 candidates (it will be published later). Both lists were voted and decided by the members of the National Political Council. Vladimir Plahotniuc, the President of the DPM, Pavel Filip, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, and Andrian Candu, the Parliament Speaker are the top three candidates on the list of the Democratic Party for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. They are followed by Constantin Botnari, the Secretary General of the DPM and Monica Babuc, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research.<\/p>\n

The list of candidates doesn\u2019t include the former president of Moldova between 2010 and 2012 \u2013 Marian Lupu. Instead, Otilia Dr\u0103gu\u021banu, the wife of the ex-governor of the National Bank of Moldova during the bank fraud \u2013 Dorin Dr\u0103gu\u021banu, is 11th<\/sup> on the list. On the 20th<\/sup> place is Silvia Radu, the current Minister of Health and the former \u2018independent\u2019 candidate for the mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u.<\/p>\n

According to a DPM statement, the list was drawn up respecting the minimum representation rate of 40% for both sexes: 45% or 24 women and 55% or 29 men.<\/p>\n

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova<\/h3>\n

The PSRM also announced its list of candidates<\/a> for the position of deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The National Council of PSRM also approved the list of candidates for uninominal constituencies.<\/p>\n

According to the PSRM electoral list, Zinaida Grecean\u00eei, the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, the PSRM representative in the parliament and the current chairman of the PSRM is at the top of the list. She is followed by Vlad Batr\u00eencea, the executive secretary of the PSRM, Ion Ceban the former Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sport from 2007 to 2008 and a current councillor in Chisinau Municipal Council, and Eduard Smirnov, that recently was a parliament deputy.<\/p>\n

Igor Dodon, the President of the Republic of Moldova, is not yet listed. At the National Congress<\/a> of the PSRM, the Party of Socialists announced its full support for the policies promoted by the President, and promises to give priority to all presidential initiatives in the new Parliament. Moreover, Zinaida Grecean\u00eei already invited Igor Dodon to run on the list of Socialists. She said the list was provisional and that it could be changed in legal terms. \u201cI thank Mrs Grecean\u00eei for the invitation to run on the PSRM list. The decision will be taken with our colleagues around January 20th<\/sup> for the benefit of the country,\u201d Dodon said from the tribune during his speech.<\/p>\n

According to the new \u201cElectoral Barometer<\/a>\u201drealised by the company iData, in the parliamentary elections in February, the PSRM could obtain 47 deputies mandates, the Election Bloc “ACUM” – 29, the DPM – 18, the \u0218or Party – 5, whereas the Party of Communists and the Party led by Renato Usat\u00eei \u2013 one mandate of legislator each. The iData company estimated the situation regarding the possible configuration of the future Parliament on the basis of publicly available information, as well as from its own research.<\/p>\n

December 26th<\/sup> is the first day when future candidates in the February parliamentary elections can apply for registration in the electoral race. The registration of the candidates\u2019 files will be received in two stages. First, the person in charge of the party or electoral bloc will go to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) to hand in the file. Then, each candidate will have to be present at the Palace of the Republic, either on the party list or on a list of the uninominal constituencies. Starting from December 28th<\/sup>, the files of those intending to participate in the elections will be received at the CEC. The deadline of files\u2019 registration is January 24th<\/sup>, 2019.<\/a><\/p>\n
