Chi\u0219in\u0103u and Tiraspol are expected to review the progress on the Berlin+ protocol and make further agreements, accompanied by Moscow, Kyiv, OSCE mediators, and EU and USA observers.\u00a0Ambassador Alessandro Azzoni, Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osce.org\/chairmanship\/380935\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that the Italian Chairmanship is hopeful to see &#8220;further positive steps that will bring more benefits to the lives of people on both banks of the Nistru\/Dniester River&#8221;.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Gura B\u00eecului-B\u00eecioc:\u00a0<\/strong>The EU could finance the feasibility study on the rehabilitation and development of the recently opened (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/russia-sides-tiraspol-border-checkpoints-gura-bicului-bicioc-bridge\/\" rel=\"noopener\">and quite problematic<\/a>) bridge between the two localities on different banks of Nistru. The information was communicated by Moldova&#8217;s Reintegration Bureau, after the meeting of Cristina Lesnic and EU Delegation Head, Peter Michalko.<\/p>\n<p>The European Union was also the main financial contributor to the initial reconstruction of the bridge, bombed down by separatist forces in 1992.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>475,8 million USD:\u00a0<\/strong>That&#8217;s how much Gazprom claims from Moldova&#8217;s Moldovagaz in a new case at the Russian International Arbitrage Court. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mold-street.com\/?go=news&amp;n=7499\" rel=\"noopener\">Mold-street<\/a>\u00a0reports that the claim is referred to the gas delivery debts from 2015, adding up to Moldovagaz&#8217;s debt of almost 5 billion USD. Around 73 states attended the meeting and were represented by Ambassadors, Foreign Ministers or even Polish President Andrzej Duda.<\/p>\n<p>The main topic of the meeting was the upholding of international law within the context of international peace and security. Polish President talked about the violations of international law by Russia in conflicts like the Ukrainian one, Georgian one, Nagorno-Karabakh, AND Transnistria. Lithuania&#8217;s FM Linas Linkevicius <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LithuaniaUNNY\/status\/997240890119852032\">also mentioned<\/a> Moldova&#8217;s protracted conflict in his speech at the meeting. The Moldovan Ambassador to the UN, Victor Moraru, surprisingly did not show up. That request was delayed as well.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t expect much on international security from Moldova at the UN.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>18 years:\u00a0<\/strong>The Military Court in Moscow has given a Moldovan citizen a long jail term for involvement in planned terrorist attacks on Russian soil along with other Tajik citizens, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.balkaninsight.com\/en\/article\/moldovan-citizen-acting-in-isis-s-name-jailed-in-russia-05-17-2018\" rel=\"noopener\">reports Balkan Insight<\/a>.\u00a0Russian courts sentenced a Moldovan national, Victor Feodorovich, on Wednesday to 18 years in jail in closed detention for involvement in planned Islamist terror attacks.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong> Moldova-US\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Nuclear smuggling talks:\u00a0<\/strong>Last week,\u00a0American and Moldovan experts met in Chi\u0219in\u0103u to discuss the bilateral cooperation to counter nuclear smuggling. Growth is expected to reach <strong>3,8% in 2018<\/strong> and <strong>3,7% in 2019<\/strong>, primarily driven by private consumption (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipn.md\/en\/economie-business\/91159\">IPN<\/a>). WB experts think that Moldova needs deep transformational reforms that will create new and better jobs in the private sector by reforming justice sector, improving the business environment and enhancing the skills of the workforce remain paramount. Among other recommendation are to reduce the interest rates on loans and to establish partnerships between universities and private companies, IPN reports.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>650 million lei:\u00a0<\/strong>Moldova&#8217;s Government might need a lot of budget money in its attempt to &#8220;professionalize&#8221; the National Army, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europalibera.org\/a\/rosian-vasiloi-profesionalizarea-armatei-ar-insemna-alocarea-suplimentara-a-sumei-de-650-milioane-de-lei\/29227923.html\">IDIS &#8220;Viitorul&#8221; Rosian Vasiloi told Radio Free Europe<\/a>. Moreover, despite the announcement of the abolishment of conscription, the professionalization of the army would not happen in 2018, because no corrections in 2018 were made on the defense budget. President Igor Dodon claims this acceptance as his achievement.
