On November 28th, another\u00a0round of 5+2 negotiations ended in Vienna under the Austrian Chairmanship. At the end of negotiations, the political representatives of Moldova and the Tiraspol administration confirmed<\/a> their commitment\u00a0to finalize the solutions for recent four issues<\/a>, but also reiterated the progress on previous issues stipulated by the Berlin Protocol. The conclusions of these talks were elaborated in the so-called Vienna Protocol<\/a>.<\/p>\n

the 5+2 observers and mediators welcome the commitment to solve some issues by February 2018, especially in the case of the participation of Transnistria-registered vehicles in the international traffic<\/a>. The other agreements regard the\u00a0apostilization of educational documents issued in Transdniestria, the organization of interaction in the field of telecommunications, ensuring the functioning of the Moldova-administered Latin Script Schools and the use of farmlands in Dubasari region.<\/p>\n\n

The opening of the Gura B\u00eecului-B\u00eecioc bridge over Nistru river was particularly given<\/a> as an example of intensified cooperation of the Republic of Moldova and the separatist authorities from the left bank.<\/p>\n

In the opinion of the OSCE Ambassador to Moldova, Michael Scanlan, the success of the Vienna talks is just a product of\u00a0dedicated work on the part of the Working Groups and the Chief Negotiators<\/em>,\u00a0but also the personal involvement of leaders of both sides in the dialogue.<\/p>\n

While the press-release of the Moldovan Government mentions nothing but the talks on the above-mentioned issues, the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria reports<\/a> that the chief negotiator, “foreign minister” Vitaly Ignatiev, informed about\u00a0the negative consequences\u00a0<\/em>of the joint border checkpoints of Moldova and Ukraine.<\/a>\u00a0Whether it was a topic of talks, we may not know, but we can guess that one of the topics was the prospect status of Transnistria within the Republic of Moldova. The Ukrainian representative in the negotiations, Viktor Kryzhanivskyi, recently confirmed in an interview<\/a> that the status talks are on the way.<\/p>\n
