Ziarul de Gard\u0103 recently reported<\/a> about the project of Moldova’s Foreign Ministry to replace ambassadors in Romania, Belgium (+Luxembourg and NATO) and Lithuania.<\/p>\n

According to ZdG’s source, the agreement requests for the future ambassadors have been sent on 27 October to authorities from Bucharest, Brussels and Vilnius. The replacements would thus happen two years before the mandates of the current ambassadors end.<\/p>\n

Ion St\u0103vil\u0103, MFA’s ambassador for special missions, would be deployed to Romania. Lilian Darii, the foreign vice-minister for the Transnistrian conflict settlement, would represent Moldova in Belgium, Luxembourg and at the NATO. Last, but not least, Sergiu Mihov would replace Valeriu Frija in the seat of Ambassador of Moldova to the Republic of Lithuania.<\/p>\n

The current ambassadors to Romania and Belgium, Mihai Gribincea, and Iurie Reni\u021b\u0103 respectively, already confirmed for Deschide.md<\/a>, although with confusion about the reasons, that they received agreement request from Moldova’s MFA.<\/p>\n

Ziarul de Gard\u0103 is now expecting an answer from the Moldovan MFA regarding the reasons of the sudden replacements, the reasons the next ambassadors were chosen and if these actions have anything to do with the upcoming Parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

Some suspect that the replacement of the ambassador in Romania is a follow-up of President Dodon’s request<\/a> to dismiss him because of his comments on the decision to strip Romanian ex-President Traian B\u0103sescu of Moldovan citizenship. Additionally, both Darii and St\u0103vil\u0103 can reinforce Moldova’s positions in the EU, NATO and in Romania in regard to the possible developments in the Transnistrian conflict settlement and the problem of Russian military presence in the region.<\/p>\n
