Businessman Ilan Shor has called for meetings with MEPs from the EPP<\/a> but all those working with the Eastern Partnership countries have rejected this request. MEPs allegedly received this invitation through Italian deputies. The only ones who responded positively to the invitation are MEPs who do not know the situation in the Republic of Moldova and the profile of the businessman Ilan Shor, sources from the European Parliament (EP) told Radio Free Europe<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Apart from the deputies who had official meetings (the vast majority of them being Italians), the other deputies appearing in the photographs seemed surprised at the hall of the institution or at the MEPs’ bar. According to sources from Radio Free Europe’s correspondents, none of the deputies had the EPP’s mandate for this meeting, and the incident triggered a wave of dissatisfaction among the party. EPP President Joseph Daul will most likely present a public message concerning the critical position of the party over the current situation. The EPP Group has filed a resolution in the European Parliament calling for the freezing of European funding for Moldova as a result of the failure by the Chisinau authorities to comply with the conditions for political pluralism and democracy imposed by MEPs in July with the adoption of the Macro-Aid report for \u20ac100 million.
