According to PAS, the Central Electoral Commission has to oblige the Democratic Party to return the money illegally received between January 2016 and September 2017, even if the court decisions stated the donations can be done.<\/p>\n

At the same press conference, the PAS leaders presented an alleged scheme to fund the Democratic Party from public procurement contracts.<\/p>\n

Thus, according to the PAS, “from the public procurement contracts won by companies close to PD members, cash was collected, being legalized as formal donations to the Democratic Party by various civil servants.”<\/p>\n

Igor Grosu, the\u00a0PAS general secretary, gave the example of a donor\u00a0identified in the PD donation register, which, despite having obtained a total gross income of only 101 thousand lei in 2016, has donated 120,000 lei.<\/p>\n

“Subsequently, the money collected by the Democratic Party is paid for promotion on the television channels owned by (Vlad) Plahotniuc and in this way, Plahotniuc not only promotes the party he is leading but also obtains profit,” declared the party leaders.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

PAS President,\u00a0Maia Sandu, urged the Democratic Party to vote the bill on financial transparency of parties<\/a> as shortly as possible.<\/p>\n
