The Bucharest District 1 Council will grant the Moldovan administration 1 million euros. The announcement was made Sunday by the Sector 1 Mayor, Daniel Tudorache, at the “Centenary of Union and Bessarabia” Conference. According to Agerpres<\/a>, he said:<\/p>\n

“Local councils, county councils can do more for the Centenary. What can I do as a mayor, what does the Local Council of Sector 1 do? We can twin with cities in the Republic of Moldova. I did it. We got together with Chisinau. We approved a sum of money that we will give up by the end of the year, in order to help the Chisinau Municipal Council. It’s about a million euros,”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He declared that if the mayors of Romania will be twinned within a town and a commune from the Republic of Moldova, each of them offering as little as possible of a sum, “this desideratum will surely come closer.”<\/p>\n

For his part, PNL deputy Florin Roman, deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for the Centenary of the Great Union, argued that, according to the model of the mayoralties, the county councils should be twinned with Moldovan districts:<\/p>\n

“It is time for the county councils with much greater financial power to make the Union really happen, and if each county council in Romania would “adopt” one of the 32 districts of the Republic of Moldova, then we can surely talk about concrete help. It is a possibility to start investments, repair roads, schools, work on water and sewerage”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Union’s Centenary and Bessarabia Conference was organized by the Union Action Platform 2012, at the Parliament Palace, which launched the Alliance for the Centenary, a concrete action plan for 2018, to which approximately 100 civic organizations from Romania, the Republic Moldova and the Diaspora joined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
