The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS)<\/a> claims that by amending the Citizenship Act, the authorities are directing the Republic of Moldova towards the offshore states. In this context, the party will ask the General Prosecutor’s Office to verify whether there are no constituent elements of the offense in the actions of the promoters of this initiative.<\/p>\n

Igor Grosu, PAS<\/a> secretary-general, declared that the essence of this law is that it allows the granting of Moldovan citizenship under conditions in which the applicant pays a hundred thousand euros in bank accounts or invests 250 thousand euros in properties, securities.<\/p>\n

“It seems that the government tends to turn Moldova into an offshore. Citizenship of the Republic of Moldova risks being won by dubious people from Russia, Asia, Africa. The government is trying to turn us into a suspect capital dump of dirty money.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dan Perciun, president of PAS Youth, warned that the CNA communicated about the two major risks: it threatens the national security of the state and generates the risk of amplifying the money laundering phenomenon through the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

At the same time, PAS specified that it would ask the Government to have further consultations before the regulation on implementing the law.<\/p>\n
