The Moldovan Ministry of Economy announces<\/a> that Moldova increased its trade with the European Union in the first five months of 2017, referring to the latest report on the implementation of the Action Plan Moldova-EU 2017-2019.<\/p>\n

Thus, the Moldovan exports to the EU member states constituted 542 million USD during January-May 2017, a 15% increase compared to the same period of 2016, making a 63% share in the total exports. The main exporting destinations were Romania, Italy, Germany, UK, Bulgaria, Poland and France.<\/p>\n

In terms of imports from the EU (49% share), Moldova imported goods worth more than 877 million USD- 17% more than in January-May 2016. Romania, Germany, Italy and Poland are the main import partners of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Speaking of quotas, a 196% increase was registered with the export of cereals, since Moldovan businesses exported 147 thousand tones above the 75 thousand tones quota. The quota of processed cereals was also overdone: over 8 thousand tones were exported over the 2,5 thousand tones quota (321%).<\/p>\n

Other quotas were not fulfilled: corn- 63% of the total 130 thousand tones, barley- 34% of the total 70 thousand tones, sugar- 56% of the total 37 thousand tones, sweet corn- 15% of the total 1,5 thousand tones, grapes- 40% of the total 10 thousand tones, apples- 25% of the total 10 thousand tones. No plum exports to the EU were registered.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the import quotas on bird meat, dairy products and sugar were fulfilled. The quotas on sugar products, pork and processed meat were only partially fulfilled.<\/p>\n

In terms of technological standards, the Moldovan institutions adopted 1784 European standards and removed 1965 conflicting or outdated Moldovan standards. So far, Moldova has adopted over 16 thousand European standards out of the 25 thousand established by the European Standardization Committee.<\/p>\n
