4th of July, past midnight, Chi\u0219in\u0103u International Airport- Heraklion-Chi\u0219in\u0103u flight scheduled to depart and land on 2nd of July finally arrives in the Moldovan capital with the 170 dissapointed passengers. The 5F 412 flight operated by Fly One was delayed after the Airbus A320 had to return to Heraklion airport after one hour because of severe “problems with the front wheels”.<\/p>\n

The 170 passengers were placed in a hotel only after a whole day of waiting in the airport. Coincidentally, another Fly One flight from Chi\u0219in\u0103u to Moscow was delayed and the passengers had to be placed in hotel, reports anticorup\u021bie.md<\/a>. Despite complaints, the Moldovan Aeronautical Authority could not do anything but to recommend the passengers to submit compensation requests and promise a SAFA inspection, because the airplane was rented from an Armenian company.<\/p>\n

Fly One only could make excuses<\/a> that the Airbus needed additional checks after some signals during the flight. On July 3rd, the company delayed<\/a> other 4 flights: Moscow-Domodedovo, Roma-Fiumicino, Parma, Moscow-Vnukovo.<\/p>\n

The ownership and founding history of Fly One is interesting. Registered in 2015, the airlines had the wife of current Justice Minister, Vladimir Cebotari, as one of the founders, while his sister is the current executive director. According to Anticorup\u021bie.md<\/a>, Maria Cebotari eventually ceded her 40% of shares to Andrei \u021aurcan, former commercial director of state-owned Air Moldova. Another important figure in the relatively new company is Mircea Maleca, current manager of Fly One and former director of the same Aeronautical Authority. In September 2016, Maleca had to withdraw from the Moldovan Aeronautical Authority, the national regulator, after several investigations<\/a> proved he had ownership links with the airlines through his former father-in-law.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Maleca says the discomfort of the passengers cannot be compensated, because the flight was a charter one. The lawyers of the passengers strongly contradict him, ProTV reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In June 2016, the company was in the center of attention because of Maleca, who may have been under conflict of interest while exercising his right as director of the airlines regulator and owner of one airlines company- a company that did not have any regular flights, as former Transportation Minister Chirinciuc inquired<\/a>. Both the Anti-Corruption Center and the National Integrity Authority ended the cases of Maleca’s interests, claiming the press was wrong.
