Choosing from a dozen of options,\u00a0Moldovans have voted for a new name for the country capital airport\u00a0 \u201eWine of Moldova Airport\u201d.\u00a0<\/a> The survey was launched by a local youth news portal diez.md. However,\u00a0although airport representatives appreciated voters’ choice, they said they do not plan to change the name of the airport\u00a0in the near future.<\/p>\n

Many of the participating voters believe that the national wine brand \u201eWine of Moldova\u201d deserves to be on the Airport fa\u00e7ade and that it sends an attractive message to tourists and international community: \u201eWelcome to Moldova \u2013 a country of wine!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201eWine of Moldova\u201d outran lots of other options amongst which were remarkable names for Moldovan Culture, such as Eugen Doga, whose \u201cMy Sweet and Tender Beast\u201d is recognized worldwide as the 4th music masterpiece of the XX-th century, the only woman-pilot in Moldova Olga Culic and the fiction fairy-tale characters Pacala and Tandala,\u00a0as well as other historical and symbolic personalities for this country.<\/p>\n

The survey was launched by diez.md youth news portal, driven by the idea of finding an original and recognizable name for the only international airport in the country, as in other Western countries. Over 8000 voters participated in the survey.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the results of the survey were published,\u00a0Chisinau International Airport came with a very friendly, still clear refusal an its official Facebook page.\u00a0According to airport representatives, in order not to mislead the passengers, the Chisinau International Airport was not, and in the near future it will not be renamed. \u201eHowever, it will continue to support all the projects that contribute to the promotion of our beautiful country and its natural richness, one of which is undoubtedly our noble and refined wine\u201d, they say.<\/p>\n
