On June 5th, the Prime-Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, organized<\/a>\u00a0an emergency meeting with decision-makers from the Government and Chi\u0219in\u0103u’s administration to solve the problem of trash management emerged in the last 4 days.<\/p>\n

According to the Vice-Mayor of the capital, Nistor Grozavu (recently got out of preventive arrest), the garbage\u00a0started to be left in the city because the locals of Bubuieci suburb, where the wasteland is situated,\u00a0block the access to trash-carrying trucks. The locals of Bubuieci were previously promised that the wasteland would be placed in another location, but the promise could not be kept.<\/p>\n

Same Grozavu, at a City Council meeting, declared<\/a> that the wasteland protests also have political causes, because some persons who are not locals reportedly participated-\u00a0locals of Dacia boulevard, former employees of Environment Ministry and political factors<\/em>. The Vice-Mayor also promised that conservation works would need to be started in\u00a0September.<\/p>\n

PM Filip reportedly demanded to form working groups to find solutions and common points with the locals of Bubuieci. Filip also asked to revise the national strategy on trash management 2013-2027 and its implementation plan.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Socialists and the Liberals blame each other for the garbage crisis in Chi\u0219in\u0103u by throwing garbage at each other’s offices. The reds accuse<\/a>\u00a0the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu of asking the heads of the municipal companies to not work as a sign of protest for the arrest of Liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoac\u0103<\/a>. Liberals throw trash\u00a0at Socialists, saying that the real trash is the President Igor Dodon.<\/p>\n
