On May 16th, the Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court (Centru district) prolonged the preventive arrest by 30 days for the former Democrat deputy, Iurie Bolboceanu, accused of treason and espionage<\/a>. The information was confirmed by prosecutor Vitalie Busuioc for realitatea.md<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The ex-Democrat MP is accused of treason and espionage in the context of his relation with Alexandr Grudin, the aide to the military attach\u00e9 of Russia to Moldova-\u00a0\u201cinterested in obtaining national security\u00a0information\u201d.\u00a0<\/em>Bolboceanu\u00a0used to have\u00a0a meeting with the spy every month, in order to offer a briefing of the socio-economical situation in exchange for money. He had been collaborating with the\u00a0foreign services\u00a0<\/em>for several years with different persons\/agents of that foreign state.<\/p>\n

Iurie Bolboceanu was also a figure in the 2014 case<\/a>\u00a0on the attempts to buy deputies for 200 thousand euros, meant to make them independent\u00a0<\/em>of the governing coalition\u00a0and to make them not\u00a0take part in the voting on several laws on the Association of Moldova and the EU<\/em>. At that time, on 6 March 2014, Bolboceanu quit the Democratic Party caucus from the Parliament, but his move was not investigated.<\/p>\n
