On May 18th, at the meeting with the US Ambassador, the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, expressed his opposition<\/a> towards a LGBT march that will take place on May 21st.<\/p>\n

According to Dodon, the position is not only his, but also of the majority of the Moldovan citizens. Dodon thinks the LGBT march would contradict to the traditional values, the Orthodox religion and morality:<\/p>\n

“They cannot and will not be accepted by me personally, neither by the entire society”<\/em>, declared Dodon.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the President announced the plan to organize the Festival of the Family in the Great National Assembly Square in Chi\u0219in\u0103u, on May 21st, at 11. He will be joined by his former Socialists’ Party<\/a>\u00a0at the Festival.<\/p>\n

One youth party organization made fun of Dodon’s homophobic position, bringing up his “political relationship”\u00a0<\/em>with the Democrat Vlad Plahotniuc in regard to the recently proposed electoral system change.
