On May 4th, the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives “Viitorul” published the results of the “People Watch” poll<\/a> conducted together with CBS-Axa.<\/p>\n

Asked about who they think helps Moldova the most, 52% of the respondents of the poll mentioned the European Union, 23%- Romania, 17%- Russia, 21,1%- the USA, 2,4%- Turkey, etc. 29,5% answered that they know that the EU was the financing institution for a development project in their communities, 5,3%- the USA, 4,4%- Romania, 2,8%- Russia, while 49,6% had no idea or did not want to respond.<\/p>\n

64,9% think the external donors need to direct their financial resources to develop Moldova’s economy for more and better jobs, 46,9% mentioned investment in the road and transportation infrastructure, 43,9% want the foreign donors to offer budgetary support to the social programs of the Moldova Government. 27,5% said they wanted the foreign donors to invest in Moldova’s fight against corruption, while 21,3% wanted the foreign actors to improve the banking sector for better preferential credits.<\/p>\n

At the same time, 36,9% of the respondents wish to move to an EU Member State, 21,1% to a country of the Eurasian Economic Union and 34,8%(!) would not move out of Moldova. Those who wish to move to EU would move for better salaries (47,7%) and better living conditions (40%), while those moving to the Eurasian Union would move with less enthusiasm for better salaries (29,2%) and because they know the main communication language (26,7%).<\/p>\n

23,8% of the Moldovans think Angela Merkel is the most influential person in the European Union, while 71,9% chose not to answer. 1% of the respondents declared Donald Trump is the most influential leader in the EU. Meanwhile, a certain 61% of the people believe Vladimir Putin is the strongest person in the Eurasian Economic Union, followed by Belarus’ Alexandr Lukashenko (1,1%).<\/p>\n

74,2% declared the direction in which things in Moldova are going is wrong, 14% chose to think it is right. 45,7% and 37,2% of the respondents are not satisfied at all or not so satisfied with the economic situation in Moldova. 26,8% and 36,1% were not satisfied respectively with the way they live.<\/p>\n

The biggest problems of Moldova accordingly are: Corruption- 55,1%, Lack of jobs- 49,7%, Level of wages and pensions- 48,4%, Low quality of life- 39,5%, The Theft of the Billion- 39,5%, etc.<\/p>\n

46,1% of Moldovans think the reform of pension system is necessary, 41,8%- reform of the Government, 38,2%- reform of the justice system, 28,3%- the taxation system, 18,5%- education reform, 7,8%- administrative-territorial reform.<\/p>\n

The Church (67,1%), the Local Administration (36,6%) and the President (36,4%) seem to have most of the trust of the Moldovan people.<\/p>\n

Asked about what politician they trust the most, 22,2% mentioned President Igor Dodon, 6%- former Presidential candidate Maia Sandu, 2%- PM Pavel Filip.<\/p>\n

When asked about which political party they would vote for, 31,8% of the participants of the poll indicated the Socialists’ Party, 16,1%- Action and Solidarity Party, 3,6%- Platform “Dignity and Truth”, 2,2%- “Our Party”, 2,2%- Communists’ Party, 2,1%- Democratic Party. Although 30,6% did not know their option yet, it seems that only the Socialists and PAS would be able to enter the next Parliament.<\/p>\n

What is certain is that Moldovans would never vote for the current or former government parties: 49,4%- Democratic Party, 45,3%- Liberal Party, 29,1%- Communists’ Party, 25,9%- Liberal-Democratic Party. Nevertheless, even some parties like Renato Usat\u00eei’s “Our Party”, MSP Ravnopravie, PAS, Platform DA got as much haters as Parliamentary parties like Socialists’ Party or\u00a0European People’s Party.<\/p>\n

A worrying fact is that 51,5% would prefer a fully Presidential Republic, compared to the 24,3% who are for a Parliamentary Republic.<\/p>\n

49,6% would participate in President Dodon’s referendum on<\/a>\u00a0his plan\u00a0to change his powers of dissolving the Parliament and to reduce the number of MPs (which most people support).<\/p>\n

33,8% prefer the proportional closed-list electoral system, 27,4%- the uninominal vote system, 13,6%- the mixed electoral system. 25,2% still don’t know how to answer.<\/p>\n
