The European Union’s External Action Service apparently decided who will be the next head of EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova. According to the sources of Newsmaker.md<\/a>, current Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola, whose mandate expires in half a year, will be replaced by the current Ambassador of Slovakia to Greece, Peter Michalko.<\/p>\n

NM’s two sources report that Michalko’s candidacy was already approved by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.<\/p>\n

Michalko previously worked in Moldova as a political adviser of Ambassador K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Mizsei from 2007 till 2011, managing to work during the 2009 protests and to visit the Transnistrian region. The Slovakian diplomat speaks Russian and Romanian.<\/p>\n
