On April 27th, the Appeal Court of Chi\u0219in\u0103u accepted the demand to register an initiative group launched by the Socialists to organize a referendum to dismiss the mayor of the Moldovan capital, Dorin Chirtoac\u0103.<\/p>\n

The Socialists, who accuse Dorin Chirtoac\u0103 of bad administration of the city, will have to collect the necessary number of signatures to organize the referendum in 60 days.<\/p>\n

The leader of Chi\u0219in\u0103u Socialists, Ion Ceban, in convinced that Chirtoac\u0103 might be dismissed either by referendum or by arrest of CNA (CNA-\u00a0<\/em>Anti-Corruption Center of Moldova),\u00a0because there are thousands of reasons\u00a0<\/em>for that.<\/p>\n

“In the shortest period of time, the campaign of collecting the signatures for the referendum of dismissing mayor Dorin Chirtoac\u0103. We are sure that we will be supported by an absolute majority of Chi\u0219in\u0103u people. People want to get rid of this incompetent and irresponsible individual”,\u00a0<\/em>declared Ceban.<\/p>\n

Back in September 2016, a similar demand to organize a referendum on the dismissal of Chirtoac\u0103 was made by the civil society of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, but the Appeal Court (of B\u0103l\u021bi) rejected the demand<\/a>. Now, the wind of the Moldovan justice seems to blow against the Liberals (both in Government<\/a> and Chi\u0219in\u0103u City Council<\/a>), if not in Socialists’ favor.<\/p>\n

Liberal Dorin Chirtoac\u0103 has been the mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u since 2007, now doing his third term in office.
