One of them is the Minister of Transportation and Road Infrastructure, Liberal Iurie Chirinciuc. Another person is the interim director of Road Administration and two of the arrested persons are heads of construction companies.<\/p>\n<p>All of them are suspected of organizing a scheme of defrauding huge sums of money from road construction projects like the R6 M1 Ialoveni RSP\/W6\/05, financed by the European Investment Bank. Minister Chirinciuc together with the respective economic agents were forcing the contracted company to subcontract the affiliated companies. During 2016-2017, the Minister and the head of Road Administration was creating barriers to the big contractor by not signing some documents on the project and demanding it to subcontract the &#8220;right&#8221; companies. Thus, small companies like Global Trans Construct and Nouconst subcontracted\u00a050% of the planned constructions. The first company even took some other 400000 euros through a small contract, giving some 80000 to the decision makers at the Road Administration.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecutors, the scheme was coordinated in meetings between the Minister, the Road Administration head and the companies&#8217; representatives.<\/p>\n<p>After searches at his house and office, Chirinciuc was escorted to the Anti-corruption Center of Moldova and arrested for 72 hours in a preventive arrest.
