Compared to 2004, the share of Moldovans decreased\u00a0by 1%, share of Romanians increased by 4,8%, the one of Russians decreased by 1,9%, Ukrainians by 1,8%.<\/p>\n<p>In territorial terms, Moldovans dominate in the majority of districts and territorial units, except Taraclia (66,1% Bulgarians) and UTA Gagauzia (83,8% Gagauz).<\/p>\n<p>97,1% chose to declare their mother tongue. 56,7% declared &#8220;Moldovan&#8221; is their mother language and 23,5%- Romanian. 9,7% consider Russian as mother language, 4,2%- Gagauz, 3,9%- Ukrainian, 1,5%- Bulgarian.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of first spoken language, 54,6% opted for &#8220;Moldovan&#8221;, 24% for Romanian, 14,5% for Russian, 2,7% for each Ukrainian and Gagauz. 3% did not want to tell about their day-to-day language.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day (31 March), several NGOs and political figures, including the Romanian MP Constantin Codreanu, the Liberal Party, Tinerii Moldovei\u00a0and ODIP\u00a0declared they do not recognize the 2014 census results and demanded a repeated one, due to the lack of transparency in the census process, poor coverage of the census, but also deliberate influence on the results through suggestion of options and even using the pencil for registering results. The respective organizations said\u00a0they do not believe in such a low share of reported Romanian ethnics and Romanian-speaking population.<\/p>\n<p>99,5% of the respondents declared they are citizens of the Republic of Moldova and 6,5% (180,7 thousand people) said they have citizenship of another state(s). 0,02% did not have any citizenship. From the citizens with dual citizenship (at least, the 97,4% who were willing to), 84,4% declared they have citizenship of Romania, 6%- Russia, 2,4%- Bulgaria, 1,5%- Italy and 1,5%- Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p>96,8% of the respondents declared themselves Orthodox (1,3% more than in 2004). Baptists made 1% of the population, Jehovah&#8217;s witnesses- 0,7%, Penticostals- 0,4%, Adventists- 0,3% and Catholics- 0,1%. 0,2% declared themselves atheists or agnostics, 1,2% less than in 2004. 6,9% of the respondents chose not to declare their religion.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of education, 91,1% of the people had middle school education (2004- 86,6%), 7,6%- primary school education, 1,3%- without any school.
