About 35% of the crimes took place in the Moldovan capital.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 20% of the registered crimes in 2016 are categorized as exceptionally serious and extremely serious (3,3%) and serious (16,6%). The 5 years scale show a trend of increasing of number of less serious (16%) and light crimes (25%).<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 720px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.statistica.md\/public\/files\/ComPresa\/sociala\/Infractionalitate_2016_2.PNG\" width=\"710\" height=\"275\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Evolution of the total number of serious felonies and their share in the total number of crimes<\/p><\/div>\n<p>2,2% of the crimes in 2016 were committed by minors (5,7% less than in 2015)- mainly thefts.<\/p>\n<p>53,5% of the total number of crimes regard the delinquencies on the property, together with transportation crimes (14,7%), public security crimes (4,7%) and those against the minors and family (4,4%).<\/p>\n<p>642 people died in 2016 as a result of crimes in Moldova. Most of them died because of car accidents (36,8%), killings (23,5%) and intentional body damage (13,1%).<\/p>\n<p>Around 10000 people were condemned for the committed crimes in 2016 (14,1% less compared to 2015), mainly for transportation crimes, theft and hooliganism.
