On February 15th, the National Bureau of Statistics of Moldova published<\/a> the stats on the external trade of the Republic.<\/p>\n

The data reveal\u00a0that the exports of goods in 2016 from Moldova were worth 2,0453 billion US dollars, 4% more than 2015.<\/p>\n

The exports of Moldovan goods worth 1,3509 billion US dollars (66% of the total), increased\u00a0by 3,6%, while the reexports worth 694,4 million US dollars (34%) increased by 4,8% compared to 2015.<\/p>\n

Evolution of export to European Union, CIS countries and other countries respectively<\/p><\/div>\n

In 2016, the exports to the 28 member states of the European Union increased by 9,4% to 1,3324 billion US dollars,\u00a0making a share of 65,1% in the Moldovan exports. On the other sides, the exports to the CIS countries decreased by 15,9%, accounting only 414,2 million US dollars- 20,3% of the total exports.<\/p>\n

In terms of countries, Moldova increased its exports to\u00a0Romania (+14,9%), Bulgaria (2,7 times), Germany (+8,0%), Switzerland\u00a0(+25,8%), Irak (+53,8%), Malaysia (3,3 times), Poland (+7,2%), Austria (+26,1%), China (1,7 times), Israel (3,4 times), Portugal (14,9 times), Ukraine (+8,4%), Greece (+16,1%), Hungary\u00a0(2,1 times), Macedonia (2,6 times) and Myanmar (4,5 times), that contributed with a\u00a010,0% increase.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Moldova reduced its exports to Kazakhstan (-77,5%), Belarus (-21,3%), the United Kingdom\u00a0(-17,2%), the Russian Federation\u00a0(-3,1%), Indonesia (-66,6%), United States of America\u00a0(-22,8%), Latvia (-49,8%) and Cyprus\u00a0(-46,7%), diminishing the total by 6,4%.<\/p>\n

In 2016, the imports to Moldova accounted about 4,0203 billion US dollars, increased by 0,8% from the level of 2015.<\/p>\n

The evolution index of Moldovan imports<\/p><\/div>\n

The imports from the European Union were worth 1,9737 billion US dollars, or 1% more than in 2015- making a 49,1% share in the total exports. The imports from the CIS countries increased by 0,9% to the value of 1,0274 billion US dollars- 25,6% of the total imports.<\/p>\n

Moldova reportedly increased its exports from China (+7,4%), Belarus (+20,4%), Ukraine (+3,4%), Hungary\u00a0(+15,6%), Vietnam (1,9 times), Poland (+8,1%), France (+11,0%) and the United Kingdom\u00a0(+16,8%) slowing down\u00a0the decreasing of imports by 2,7%. On the other hand, the imports from Austria (-17,6%), Israel (-60,0%), Turkey (-4,6%), Bulgaria (-15,8%), Japan (-33,1%), Kazakhstan (-71,4%) and Uzbekistan (-77,0%) influenced the diminishing of imports by\u00a02,2%.<\/p>\n

The considerable difference between the exports and the imports made a trade deficit of 1,975 billion US dollars- 2,2% less than in 2015.
