On February 2nd, the Government of Moldova decided<\/a> to allocate from the Reserve Fund the sum of 3,95 million lei to award the athletes who got the best results during the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. The decision also regards the awarding of coaches and medical assistants.<\/p>\n

Thus, Zalina Margieva and Alexandru \u0218pac, ranked on the fifth position, each received 600 thousand lei, the weightlifter Sergiu Cechir who got to the sixth position received 400 thousand lei, while Larisa Marinenkova who was seventh in the final ranking- 300 thousand lei.<\/p>\n

The awarding of the canoeist Sergey Tarnovsky, who got a bronze medal at simple Canoe, was delayed until the results of the International Canoe Federation were released.<\/p>\n

The Olympic Committee of Moldova later issued a decision<\/a> of the International Canoe Federation\u00a0on the cancelling of Tarnovsky’s result and his ineligibility for four years. The Committee also informs that Tarnovsky and his lawyer decided to attack the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The canoeist thinks that the four years ban is unfair, because he would reportedly consumed the prohibited substances without his knowledge.<\/p>\n
