Moreover, the law would create a precedent in the domain for unprepared persons to get in.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The deputies are the ones that want to take a place in an easier way, without taking the licence exam in the lawyer profession. The draft law put in discussion directly attacks the principles of lawyer profession, without any expertise. The proposed modification contradicts the internal and international customs. A possibility is created for people to be accepted without any preparation&#8221;<\/em>, declared Nina Lozan, the head of Lawyers&#8217; Union of Moldova.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers stressed that the modification would not affect them, but rather the defense of citizens:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;This law will not affects the lawyers, but the right of defense of citizens. The state should make sure that the law gets the specialists whose aptitude can be checked. The state should make sure that a professional enters the domain. Don&#8217;t think that if the number of lawyers increases, it would directly affect us from social or economical point of view. It&#8217;s not competition we are talking about. We are talking about ensuring the right for defense&#8221;,\u00a0<\/em>said lawyer Victor Pan\u021b\u00eeru.<\/p>\n<p>The members of the Lawyers&#8217; Union sent a memorandum to the Parliament leadership to ask for further discussion of the matter, but only the Juridical Commission answered so far.<\/p>\n<p>In case the authorities do not answer, the lawyers said they would protest for their cause.<\/p>\n<p>The respective changes to law of Lawyers would allow the (even former) deputies to get a licence of lawyer, if they have at least 10 years of experience in the domain of law. According to the authors of the law, the deputies with law knowledge have enough competence to be lawyers.
