The decision comes after finding the use of SLPs for criminal activity such as the transfer of one billion US dollars from three Moldovan banks to shell Scottish companies as loans, sent back to Eastern European banks accounts afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>David Mundell, Secretary of State for Scotland motivated the review with the media reports on the defrauded money circulating through Scottish shell companies:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;It is right the UK Government launches this call for evidence into the use of Scottish Limited Partnerships for possible criminal activity. Work by campaign groups and a series of media reports have highlighted growing concerns which require to be taken very seriously&#8221;<\/em>, declared Mundell.<\/p>\n<p>Business Minister Margot James says that the UK Government is committed to limiting criminal activity:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I am concerned about recent reports relating to the use of LPs, suggesting that some are being used for criminal activity.
