Dodon declared he would to take urgent action regarding different (more or less important) problems, including the fight against the <em>&#8220;oligarchic regime&#8221;<\/em>, once elected:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-promises-sign-decrees-investigating-theft-billion-economic-relations-russia-combating-unionism-elected\/\">to\u00a0sign decrees on\u00a0investigating<\/a> of the stolen billion and not putting it as state payment, on reestablishing the economical relations with Russia and on combating unionist, anti-state actions;<\/p>\n<p>-to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/dodons-victory-speech-ill-president-want-closer-ties-eu-want-closer-ties-russia\/\"><em>&#8220;the President\u00a0of those who want closer ties to the EU and those who want closer ties to Russia&#8221;<\/em><\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-dodon-wants-revoke-romanian-ex-presidents-moldovan-citizenship\/\">to revoke<\/a> the Moldovan citizenship of Romanian ex-President Traian B\u0103sescu;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-insists-repeated-contest-position-prosecutor-general-moldova\/\">to repeat the contest<\/a> for the position of Prosecutor General of Moldova and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-prosecutor-general-approved-president-timofti-will-not-legitimacy\/\">to dismiss the appointed Prosecutor General<\/a>, Eduard Harunjen;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-elect-igor-dodon-accuses-former-counter-candidate-maia-sandu-blocking-inauguration\/\">to block some<\/a> \u201cantisocial\u201d reforms of the current government, the reform of the pensioning system, including the raise of pensioning age and the opening of a NATO office.<\/p>\n<p>Dodon previously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-elect-igor-dodon-accuses-former-counter-candidate-maia-sandu-blocking-inauguration\/\">accused<\/a> his former counter-candidate, Maia Sandu, for blocking his inauguration and preventing him from entering the job by submitting complaints on the electoral frauds to the Central Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n<p>Now, since Dodon is President by himself, let&#8217;s see how did President Igor Dodon fulfill his promises of &#8220;urgent actions&#8221; by looking at his actions in the first week of his Presidential mandate.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15672687_1785624658345087_6682927593624993691_n.jpg?oh=74fe631133127bc196923d3dbd779396&amp;oe=58EF0F8B\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Parliament speaker Andrian Candu, President Igor Dodon and PM Pavel Filip on December 23rd<\/p><\/div>\n<p>-On December 23rd, Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/watch-inauguration-new-president-moldova-igor-dodon-live\/\">was inaugurated<\/a> as President of the Republic of Moldova. The ceremony took place at the Palace of the Republic in the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u. Dodon took oath of office, but not before holding a speech, supposed to be a &#8220;unity speech&#8221; in front of his supporters and counter-protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Right after his inauguration, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-a-avut-mai-multe-intrevederi-bilaterale-cu-oficiali-de-rang-inalt-de-peste-hotare\">had several meetings<\/a> with different visiting officials, like the Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus Mihail Rusyi, head of the French National Front in the European Parliament Eduard Ferrand, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, but also some priests from Athos mountain Orthodox\u00a0monastery and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dodon.igor1\/posts\/1785655621675324\">Russian artist Gennady Hazanov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1234\/1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"431\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon beside his former Socialist deputies and Gagauzia leader Irina Vlah, at the meeting with Belarus Deputy PM Rusyi<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The night after his inauguration, Moldova President Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/moldova-president-igor-dodon-met-russia-deputy-pm-dmitry-rogozin-inauguration\/\">had a meeting<\/a> with the Russia Deputy Prime-Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, at Chi\u0219in\u0103u at the Presidential residency at 3AM on 24 of December.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 706px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/m-179-696x524-696x524.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"524\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon and Rogozin after a meeting at 4AM<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dodon and Rogozin discussed the current state of the bilateral relations and the perspectives of the Transnistrian conflict settlement. The parties also planned the future topics of discussion at the next meeting of Dodon with Russia President Vladimir Putin. They scheduled\u00a0the meeting between Dodon and Putin for 17 December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>-On Saturday, December 24th, Dodon\u2019s Presidential staff did a\u00a0controversial change to the website of the institution by replacing the sign \u201cRO\u201d, corresponding to Romanian language, to \u201cMD\u201d, probably the \u201cMoldovan language\u201d mentioned by Dodon in his CV.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/dupa-dodon.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before December 24th:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/pana-la-dodon.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the same Saturday, Dodon called some Orthodox priests to &#8220;baptise&#8221; his new workplace.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15672672_1785950611645825_7994802822489854855_n.jpg?oh=7a29a2f7b893f82548d562848c410c4f&amp;oe=58E77BE2\" width=\"960\" height=\"574\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On December 25th, Dodon wished Merry Christmas to the citizens of Moldova who celebrate it according to the &#8220;new style&#8221;, at the same time stressing the importance of mutual understanding despite <em>&#8220;different opinions, holidays and values&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786324408275112&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"268\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Dodon expressed his condolences to Russia, where a TU-154 airplane crash caused the death of 92 people.<br \/>\n<code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786371624937057&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"634\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Later, the new President posted several pictures on his Facebook page about his shopping activity at the Central Market in Chi\u0219in\u0103u.<br \/>\n<code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786402544933965&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"771\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day of December 25th, several people passing by the Presidential residency of Moldova observed that the flag of the European Union disappeared from the front of the building, leaving the Moldovan flag alone. This took place just in the second day of Igor Dodon\u2019s Presidential mandate.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/m-199-696x522-696x522.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On Monday, December 26th, the empty <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-takes-eu-flag-moldova-presidency-liberals-put-back\/\" target=\"_blank\">spot was filled<\/a> with another Moldovan flag.<br \/>\nLater, several Liberal deputies, as a sign of protest, put back an EU flag aside the Moldovan one.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15697685_1464131156930313_1815367786356600599_n.jpg?oh=cdebb7de157aa992592f5077f7b64ad5&amp;oe=58E58BAC\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" \/><br \/>\nIon Ceban, Dodon\u2019s spokesperson, declared that the current President will respect the law on the State Flag of the Republic of Moldova and the corresponding Government decisions. Ceban stressed that the building of the Presidency will have only the flag of the Republic of Moldova in the front.<br \/>\nOn the second day after the Liberals&#8217; protest, the spot for the second flag was completely taken down from the front of the President residency.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 26th, the new President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/moldova-president-igor-dodon-presented-presidential-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\">presented<\/a> his Presidential staff containing 9 persons appointed for 10 positions.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15725993_10202581203329185_856136337_o-696x356.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"356\" \/><br \/>\nSome features of the staff changed: for example, the new position of foreign policy counselor lacks the coverage of the European Integration policy in its name.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, President Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-igor-dodon-a-semnat-un-necrolog-in-memoria-actorului-mihai-curagau\" target=\"_blank\">expressed his sincere condolences<\/a> on the death of the Moldovan actor Mihai Cur\u0103g\u0103u.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-s-a-intilnit-cu-pavel-filip\" target=\"_blank\">met<\/a> with the Prime-Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, to share opinions on the social and economic situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening, President Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/curios-igor-dodon-multumeste-romaniei-si-aduce-reprosuri-rusiei\/\" target=\"_blank\">took part<\/a> at \u00cen Profunzime talk show at ProTV, where he declared that he is not against the scholarship program of Romania for Moldovans students, but, to the opposite, he encouraged both Romania and Russia to increase the number of scholarships for Moldovans.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 27th, the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-igor-dodon-dismisses-defense-minister-anatol-salaru\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> the decree on the dismissal of the Defense Minister Anatol \u0218alaru.<br \/>\nDodon motivated the dismissal with the fact that \u0218alaru \u201cflirted\u201d with NATO, even if Moldova is a neutral state, he favored and helped to bring the American military vehicles in the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, pledged for the Union of Moldova with Romania, and replaced several security and army professionals with Liberal Party proxies. Moreover, \u0218alaru would be accused for affecting the budget of the Defense Ministry by dubious transactions with munitions and goods.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-0\/p480x480\/15698121_1787195838187969_935247885432040974_n.jpg?oh=0d9d18d0da7bfe57a38b4c9a72a3a3fc&amp;oe=58F32535\" width=\"480\" height=\"681\" \/><br \/>\nDodon thanked the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu for the request to dismiss \u0218alaru and suggested to send more requests like this one for other Liberal Ministers.<\/p>\n<p>Later that day, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-s-a-intilnit-cu-farit-mukhametshin\" target=\"_blank\">had a diplomatic talk<\/a> with the Russian Ambassador Farit Muhametshin who, in his turn, offered the congratulation letters from the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the PM Dmitry Medvedev.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1241\/15725878_1281930078516539_444842555_o.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"560\" \/><br \/>\nDodon proposed that, during his visit at Moscow, he would have a meeting with the Moldovan students and he would hold a guest lecture at the Moscow State University.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Dodon had a dialogue with the Socialist caucus from the Moldovan Parliament, which he was part of before. Dodon and his former fellows agreed on continuing to fight for preliminary Parliamentary elections, since the President will have direct support from the Socialists in the Parliament.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15740845_1787283081512578_4305428491469663107_n.jpg?oh=d9f71a00c5f3f494c1ad2be20afa6834&amp;oe=58F3C6B7\" width=\"960\" height=\"628\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Later, the President discussed the results of local legislative elections in Gagauzia with its bashkan, Irina Vlah. Dodon congratulated Gagauzia on its 22nd birthday as autonomy, but wished for further cooperation with the Executive Committee and People&#8217;s Assembly of the region.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1243\/20161227-021.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"664\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On December 28th, together with the counselor for Reintegration, Vasile \u0218ova, and foreign policy counselor, Andrei Negu\u021ba, Dodon had a work meeting on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, focusing on the future visit in the region.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15727392_1787709731469913_4059918127187973936_n.jpg?oh=dd42d4832bddddfe0247f9ffae0658df&amp;oe=58D5E544\" width=\"960\" height=\"602\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not less important, Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-initiates-draft-law-cancel-payment-135-billion-lei-national-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> on Tuesday a legislative initiative on cancelling the law on the state obligations issued in November 2014 and April 2015 for the payment to the National Bank of Moldova of loans unpaid back by the three failed banks: Banca de Economii, Banca Social\u0103, Unibank.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 706px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15726367_1787716771469209_4806779591623974097_n-696x394.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"394\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon and his counselor on institutional relations and economy<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to Dodon, the measure of reimbursing the \u201cstolen billions\u201d from the banking sector is putting a burden on the shoulders of the citizens. Dodon reiterates his position that the stolen billions should be paid back by those who participated in the frauds, voted for or knew about them, but preferred to keep silent, the state officials and those responsible from financial-banking institutions.<br \/>\nIn his decree, Dodon wants the Parliament to examine his initiative and cancel the law on the billion payment. Moreover, the new President thinks that there are other measures in this context, stressing that he is \u201cagainst the payment from the accounts of the current and future generations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 29th, President Dodon had three diplomatic meetings. <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/recep-tayyip-erdogan-a-acceptat-invitatia-lui-igor-dodon-de-a-efectua-o-vizita-in-luna-mai-in-republica-moldova\" target=\"_blank\">First one<\/a> was with Turkey Ambassador Hulusi K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7, who announced about the intention of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Moldova in May 2017.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1247\/20161229-001.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the EU Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-republicii-moldova-igor-dodon-a-avut-o-intrevedere-cu-seful-delegatiei-uniunii-europene-in-republica-moldova\" target=\"_blank\">talked<\/a> on aspects of collaboration between Moldova and EU, EU member states. Dodon appreciated the financial and political support given by the European Union to Moldova.<br \/>\nThe officials agreed on details regarding Dodon&#8217;s visit to Brussels at the end of January and beginning of February 2017.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1248\/20161229-021.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-republicii-moldova-s-a-intilnit-cu-ambasadorul-azer-gudsi-dursun-oglu-osmanov\" target=\"_blank\">last meeting<\/a> of Dodon with the Azerbaijan Ambassador, Gudsi Dursi oglu Osmanov, was mainly focused on topics of Moldo-Azeri relations with emphasis on the necessity to deepen and extend the cooperation.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1249\/15778158_10202593747562783_91927922_o.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"458\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the evening talk show Acces Direct at NTV Moldova, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/igor-dodon-cere-ajutor-de-la-partenerii-sai\/\" target=\"_blank\">declared<\/a> that he would open an account for external funds meant for the reconstruction of the original Presidency building, damaged during the 7 April protests in 2009.<br \/>\nPresident Dodon also mentioned that he would postpone the revoking of the Moldovan citizenship from the former Romania President Traian B\u0103sescu until after New Year&#8217;s Eve, just not to &#8220;upset&#8221; B\u0103sescu.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 30th, Moldova\u2019s President, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-igor-dodon-awarded-mothers-multiple-children\/\" target=\"_blank\">awarded<\/a> four mothers with multiple children.<br \/>\nAs a sign of high appreciation of the merits in consolidating the institution of the family and for the substantial contributions to the creation of a socially responsible family, Dodon offered the Order of the Republic to Lidia Tertiuc from Nisporeni, mother of eleven children and tutor of six other children, Valentina V\u00eehode\u021b from Doina, Cahul, mother of seventeen children; and the Honor Order to Ecaterina Mealdzin from Basarabeasca, mother of twelve children and Adela Robu from Tabani, Briceni, mother of thirteen children.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15727386_1788504714723748_6340545326327620968_n-696x422.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"422\" \/><br \/>\nThe President stressed that he chose to award this kind of persons in order to encourage and support the families with more children, in the context of serious demographic problem. Dodon emphasized the need of national programs for recovering the trust of citizens in the country and for re-balancing the negative demographic trend.<br \/>\nThese were Dodon\u2019s first awards offered as President.<\/p>\n<p>Such were the first seven days of President Igor Dodon. Dodon declared he would to take urgent action regarding different (more or less important) problems, including the fight against the <em>&#8220;oligarchic regime&#8221;<\/em>, once elected:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-promises-sign-decrees-investigating-theft-billion-economic-relations-russia-combating-unionism-elected\/\">to\u00a0sign decrees on\u00a0investigating<\/a> of the stolen billion and not putting it as state payment, on reestablishing the economical relations with Russia and on combating unionist, anti-state actions;<\/p>\n<p>-to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/dodons-victory-speech-ill-president-want-closer-ties-eu-want-closer-ties-russia\/\"><em>&#8220;the President\u00a0of those who want closer ties to the EU and those who want closer ties to Russia&#8221;<\/em><\/a>;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-dodon-wants-revoke-romanian-ex-presidents-moldovan-citizenship\/\">to revoke<\/a> the Moldovan citizenship of Romanian ex-President Traian B\u0103sescu;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-insists-repeated-contest-position-prosecutor-general-moldova\/\">to repeat the contest<\/a> for the position of Prosecutor General of Moldova and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-prosecutor-general-approved-president-timofti-will-not-legitimacy\/\">to dismiss the appointed Prosecutor General<\/a>, Eduard Harunjen;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-elect-igor-dodon-accuses-former-counter-candidate-maia-sandu-blocking-inauguration\/\">to block some<\/a> \u201cantisocial\u201d reforms of the current government, the reform of the pensioning system, including the raise of pensioning age and the opening of a NATO office.<\/p>\n<p>Dodon previously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-elect-igor-dodon-accuses-former-counter-candidate-maia-sandu-blocking-inauguration\/\">accused<\/a> his former counter-candidate, Maia Sandu, for blocking his inauguration and preventing him from entering the job by submitting complaints on the electoral frauds to the Central Electoral Commission and the Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n<p>Now, since Dodon is President by himself, let&#8217;s see how did President Igor Dodon fulfill his promises of &#8220;urgent actions&#8221; by looking at his actions in the first week of his Presidential mandate.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15672687_1785624658345087_6682927593624993691_n.jpg?oh=74fe631133127bc196923d3dbd779396&amp;oe=58EF0F8B\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Parliament speaker Andrian Candu, President Igor Dodon and PM Pavel Filip on December 23rd<\/p><\/div>\n<p>-On December 23rd, Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/watch-inauguration-new-president-moldova-igor-dodon-live\/\">was inaugurated<\/a> as President of the Republic of Moldova. The ceremony took place at the Palace of the Republic in the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u. Dodon took oath of office, but not before holding a speech, supposed to be a &#8220;unity speech&#8221; in front of his supporters and counter-protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Right after his inauguration, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-a-avut-mai-multe-intrevederi-bilaterale-cu-oficiali-de-rang-inalt-de-peste-hotare\">had several meetings<\/a> with different visiting officials, like the Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus Mihail Rusyi, head of the French National Front in the European Parliament Eduard Ferrand, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, but also some priests from Athos mountain Orthodox\u00a0monastery and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dodon.igor1\/posts\/1785655621675324\">Russian artist Gennady Hazanov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1234\/1.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"431\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon beside his former Socialist deputies and Gagauzia leader Irina Vlah, at the meeting with Belarus Deputy PM Rusyi<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The night after his inauguration, Moldova President Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/moldova-president-igor-dodon-met-russia-deputy-pm-dmitry-rogozin-inauguration\/\">had a meeting<\/a> with the Russia Deputy Prime-Minister, Dmitry Rogozin, at Chi\u0219in\u0103u at the Presidential residency at 3AM on 24 of December.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 706px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/m-179-696x524-696x524.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"524\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon and Rogozin after a meeting at 4AM<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dodon and Rogozin discussed the current state of the bilateral relations and the perspectives of the Transnistrian conflict settlement. The parties also planned the future topics of discussion at the next meeting of Dodon with Russia President Vladimir Putin. They scheduled\u00a0the meeting between Dodon and Putin for 17 December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>-On Saturday, December 24th, Dodon\u2019s Presidential staff did a\u00a0controversial change to the website of the institution by replacing the sign \u201cRO\u201d, corresponding to Romanian language, to \u201cMD\u201d, probably the \u201cMoldovan language\u201d mentioned by Dodon in his CV.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/dupa-dodon.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Before December 24th:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/pana-la-dodon.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the same Saturday, Dodon called some Orthodox priests to &#8220;baptise&#8221; his new workplace.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15672672_1785950611645825_7994802822489854855_n.jpg?oh=7a29a2f7b893f82548d562848c410c4f&amp;oe=58E77BE2\" width=\"960\" height=\"574\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On December 25th, Dodon wished Merry Christmas to the citizens of Moldova who celebrate it according to the &#8220;new style&#8221;, at the same time stressing the importance of mutual understanding despite <em>&#8220;different opinions, holidays and values&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786324408275112&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"268\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Dodon expressed his condolences to Russia, where a TU-154 airplane crash caused the death of 92 people.<br \/>\n<code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786371624937057&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"634\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Later, the new President posted several pictures on his Facebook page about his shopping activity at the Central Market in Chi\u0219in\u0103u.<br \/>\n<code><iframe style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fdodon.igor1%2Fposts%2F1786402544933965&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"771\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/code><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day of December 25th, several people passing by the Presidential residency of Moldova observed that the flag of the European Union disappeared from the front of the building, leaving the Moldovan flag alone. This took place just in the second day of Igor Dodon\u2019s Presidential mandate.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/m-199-696x522-696x522.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On Monday, December 26th, the empty <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-takes-eu-flag-moldova-presidency-liberals-put-back\/\" target=\"_blank\">spot was filled<\/a> with another Moldovan flag.<br \/>\nLater, several Liberal deputies, as a sign of protest, put back an EU flag aside the Moldovan one.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15697685_1464131156930313_1815367786356600599_n.jpg?oh=cdebb7de157aa992592f5077f7b64ad5&amp;oe=58E58BAC\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" \/><br \/>\nIon Ceban, Dodon\u2019s spokesperson, declared that the current President will respect the law on the State Flag of the Republic of Moldova and the corresponding Government decisions. Ceban stressed that the building of the Presidency will have only the flag of the Republic of Moldova in the front.<br \/>\nOn the second day after the Liberals&#8217; protest, the spot for the second flag was completely taken down from the front of the President residency.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 26th, the new President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/moldova-president-igor-dodon-presented-presidential-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\">presented<\/a> his Presidential staff containing 9 persons appointed for 10 positions.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15725993_10202581203329185_856136337_o-696x356.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"356\" \/><br \/>\nSome features of the staff changed: for example, the new position of foreign policy counselor lacks the coverage of the European Integration policy in its name.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, President Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-igor-dodon-a-semnat-un-necrolog-in-memoria-actorului-mihai-curagau\" target=\"_blank\">expressed his sincere condolences<\/a> on the death of the Moldovan actor Mihai Cur\u0103g\u0103u.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-s-a-intilnit-cu-pavel-filip\" target=\"_blank\">met<\/a> with the Prime-Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, to share opinions on the social and economic situation in the country.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening, President Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/curios-igor-dodon-multumeste-romaniei-si-aduce-reprosuri-rusiei\/\" target=\"_blank\">took part<\/a> at \u00cen Profunzime talk show at ProTV, where he declared that he is not against the scholarship program of Romania for Moldovans students, but, to the opposite, he encouraged both Romania and Russia to increase the number of scholarships for Moldovans.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 27th, the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-igor-dodon-dismisses-defense-minister-anatol-salaru\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> the decree on the dismissal of the Defense Minister Anatol \u0218alaru.<br \/>\nDodon motivated the dismissal with the fact that \u0218alaru \u201cflirted\u201d with NATO, even if Moldova is a neutral state, he favored and helped to bring the American military vehicles in the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, pledged for the Union of Moldova with Romania, and replaced several security and army professionals with Liberal Party proxies. Moreover, \u0218alaru would be accused for affecting the budget of the Defense Ministry by dubious transactions with munitions and goods.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-0\/p480x480\/15698121_1787195838187969_935247885432040974_n.jpg?oh=0d9d18d0da7bfe57a38b4c9a72a3a3fc&amp;oe=58F32535\" width=\"480\" height=\"681\" \/><br \/>\nDodon thanked the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu for the request to dismiss \u0218alaru and suggested to send more requests like this one for other Liberal Ministers.<\/p>\n<p>Later that day, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/igor-dodon-s-a-intilnit-cu-farit-mukhametshin\" target=\"_blank\">had a diplomatic talk<\/a> with the Russian Ambassador Farit Muhametshin who, in his turn, offered the congratulation letters from the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the PM Dmitry Medvedev.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1241\/15725878_1281930078516539_444842555_o.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"560\" \/><br \/>\nDodon proposed that, during his visit at Moscow, he would have a meeting with the Moldovan students and he would hold a guest lecture at the Moscow State University.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Dodon had a dialogue with the Socialist caucus from the Moldovan Parliament, which he was part of before. Dodon and his former fellows agreed on continuing to fight for preliminary Parliamentary elections, since the President will have direct support from the Socialists in the Parliament.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15740845_1787283081512578_4305428491469663107_n.jpg?oh=d9f71a00c5f3f494c1ad2be20afa6834&amp;oe=58F3C6B7\" width=\"960\" height=\"628\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Later, the President discussed the results of local legislative elections in Gagauzia with its bashkan, Irina Vlah. Dodon congratulated Gagauzia on its 22nd birthday as autonomy, but wished for further cooperation with the Executive Committee and People&#8217;s Assembly of the region.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1243\/20161227-021.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"664\" \/><\/p>\n<p>-On December 28th, together with the counselor for Reintegration, Vasile \u0218ova, and foreign policy counselor, Andrei Negu\u021ba, Dodon had a work meeting on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, focusing on the future visit in the region.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent-otp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net\/v\/t1.0-9\/15727392_1787709731469913_4059918127187973936_n.jpg?oh=dd42d4832bddddfe0247f9ffae0658df&amp;oe=58D5E544\" width=\"960\" height=\"602\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Not less important, Igor Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/igor-dodon-initiates-draft-law-cancel-payment-135-billion-lei-national-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> on Tuesday a legislative initiative on cancelling the law on the state obligations issued in November 2014 and April 2015 for the payment to the National Bank of Moldova of loans unpaid back by the three failed banks: Banca de Economii, Banca Social\u0103, Unibank.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 706px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15726367_1787716771469209_4806779591623974097_n-696x394.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"394\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dodon and his counselor on institutional relations and economy<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to Dodon, the measure of reimbursing the \u201cstolen billions\u201d from the banking sector is putting a burden on the shoulders of the citizens. Dodon reiterates his position that the stolen billions should be paid back by those who participated in the frauds, voted for or knew about them, but preferred to keep silent, the state officials and those responsible from financial-banking institutions.<br \/>\nIn his decree, Dodon wants the Parliament to examine his initiative and cancel the law on the billion payment. Moreover, the new President thinks that there are other measures in this context, stressing that he is \u201cagainst the payment from the accounts of the current and future generations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 29th, President Dodon had three diplomatic meetings. <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/recep-tayyip-erdogan-a-acceptat-invitatia-lui-igor-dodon-de-a-efectua-o-vizita-in-luna-mai-in-republica-moldova\" target=\"_blank\">First one<\/a> was with Turkey Ambassador Hulusi K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7, who announced about the intention of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Moldova in May 2017.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1247\/20161229-001.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the EU Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-republicii-moldova-igor-dodon-a-avut-o-intrevedere-cu-seful-delegatiei-uniunii-europene-in-republica-moldova\" target=\"_blank\">talked<\/a> on aspects of collaboration between Moldova and EU, EU member states. Dodon appreciated the financial and political support given by the European Union to Moldova.<br \/>\nThe officials agreed on details regarding Dodon&#8217;s visit to Brussels at the end of January and beginning of February 2017.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1248\/20161229-021.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"489\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/rom\/comunicate-de-presa\/presedintele-republicii-moldova-s-a-intilnit-cu-ambasadorul-azer-gudsi-dursun-oglu-osmanov\" target=\"_blank\">last meeting<\/a> of Dodon with the Azerbaijan Ambassador, Gudsi Dursi oglu Osmanov, was mainly focused on topics of Moldo-Azeri relations with emphasis on the necessity to deepen and extend the cooperation.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/presedinte.md\/img\/media\/1249\/15778158_10202593747562783_91927922_o.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"458\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the evening talk show Acces Direct at NTV Moldova, Dodon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/igor-dodon-cere-ajutor-de-la-partenerii-sai\/\" target=\"_blank\">declared<\/a> that he would open an account for external funds meant for the reconstruction of the original Presidency building, damaged during the 7 April protests in 2009.<br \/>\nPresident Dodon also mentioned that he would postpone the revoking of the Moldovan citizenship from the former Romania President Traian B\u0103sescu until after New Year&#8217;s Eve, just not to &#8220;upset&#8221; B\u0103sescu.<\/p>\n<p>-On December 30th, Moldova\u2019s President, Igor Dodon, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/president-igor-dodon-awarded-mothers-multiple-children\/\" target=\"_blank\">awarded<\/a> four mothers with multiple children.<br \/>\nAs a sign of high appreciation of the merits in consolidating the institution of the family and for the substantial contributions to the creation of a socially responsible family, Dodon offered the Order of the Republic to Lidia Tertiuc from Nisporeni, mother of eleven children and tutor of six other children, Valentina V\u00eehode\u021b from Doina, Cahul, mother of seventeen children; and the Honor Order to Ecaterina Mealdzin from Basarabeasca, mother of twelve children and Adela Robu from Tabani, Briceni, mother of thirteen children.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/12\/15727386_1788504714723748_6340545326327620968_n-696x422.jpg\" width=\"696\" height=\"422\" \/><br \/>\nThe President stressed that he chose to award this kind of persons in order to encourage and support the families with more children, in the context of serious demographic problem. Dodon emphasized the need of national programs for recovering the trust of citizens in the country and for re-balancing the negative demographic trend.<br \/>\nThese were Dodon\u2019s first awards offered as President.<\/p>\n<p>Such were the first seven days of President Igor Dodon. It was rather obvious than unexpected that Dodon would not fulfill almost of any his promises to fight the <em>&#8220;oligarchic regime&#8221;<\/em> and the status-quo in Moldova, since he is part of
