On December 28th, at 1:20:55, an earthquake of 5,3 degrees on Richter scale took place in Vrancea seismic zone of Romania, and was strongly felt in Moldova.<\/p>\n

The Romanian Institute of Earth Physics located<\/a> the epicenter in Vrancea district close to Nereju village, 98,9 kilometers deep.<\/p>\n

The quake hit the Eastern and South-Eastern Romania the most, but it also hit Southern and Central Moldova. According to the Center of Seismic Monitoring of the Geology and Seismology Institute of Moldova, the magnitude of the quake in Moldova was around 4-5 degrees.
\nAnother 2,9 degrees quake occurred at 05:10, 91,1 kilometers deep, in the morning as a follow-up.<\/p>\n

Asked by Moldova.ORG<\/a>, Ion Ilie\u0219, director of the Seismology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the earthquake adds up to other 5 earthquakes with over 5 magnitude degrees that happened in the last 5 years. Moreover, Ilie\u0219 thinks that the Vrancea region is entering a period of high seismic activity that could contain further quakes and even some big ones, when the source will be discharged, a time nearly impossible to predict.<\/p>\n
