The (still) acting President of Moldova, Nicolae Timofti, came up with a critical review<\/a> of the declarations belonging to President-elect Igor Dodon on the relations with the separatist Transnistria.<\/p>\n

Timofti argues that Dodon treats the question of Transnistria\u00a0“categorical\u00a0and unilateral”<\/em> by apologizing to recently elected leader of Transnistria, Vadim Krasnoselski, for Chi\u0219in\u0103u’s attacks on Transnistria in 1992.<\/p>\n

“Where was the fault of Chi\u0219in\u0103u that on 2 March 1992, when the Republic of Moldova\u00a0received the status of member state of the United Nations, the separatist forces attacked the police stations on the left bank of Nistru? In those four months of battles, conducted on the plateaus of Cocieri, Co\u0219ni\u021ba and Tighina, a lot of blood was shed for the defense of the national independence and the territorial integrity. Should we apologize, now, because we did not cede, because we did not betray our ideal and we wanted to defend the constitutional regime?”<\/em>, asks President Timofti.<\/p>\n

The acting President recommends to Dodon to support the process of evacuation of Russian troops illegally stationed on the left bank of Nistru, to be more temperate in the relations with the separatist leaders from Tiraspol, but also in his intentions of federalizing the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

In the end, Timofti expresses hope that the President elected on November 13th, having sufficient subtexts for compromising the stability in the country and the national unity<\/em>, will still take account of the wills of all citizens, not without compromising the normative acts and the Constitution.<\/p>\n

President-elect, Igor Dodon, qualified\u00a0Timofti’s statement as “incoherent”<\/em> and “revealing\u00a0the lack of understanding of the political reality”<\/em> in the country.<\/p>\n

Dodon instead criticized Timofti for giving away a\u00a0“sack of medals”<\/em>, for having\u00a0unionists and antistatalists\u00a0<\/em>as favorites, for approving a Government (Fillip) and Prosecutor General (Harunjen), for being silent during the thef tof the billion and\u00a0other antisocial things<\/em>.<\/p>\n
