On December 20th, the Administration Council of the\u00a0Energy Regulatory Authority of Moldova rejected<\/a> with a decision the request of Termoelectrica on raising the price of producing electrical energy. The Council motivated that the current tariff totally covers the necessary costs for producing electricity by S.A Termoelectrica.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the causes for rejection would be the substantial differences on the value of the assets and the calculations on their impact on the tariff, but also the necessity to account the previously accumulated tariff deviations.<\/p>\n

Termoelectrica requested the raising of the price to 1,7951 lei\/kWh from 1,5978 lei\/kWh.<\/p>\n

According to the Energy Regulatory Authority, Termoelectrica produces\u00a016% of total amount of electrical energy consumed in Moldova.<\/p>\n\n

On the same day, several Socialist deputies and supporters protested in front of the building of the Regulatory Authority, demanding the stability and even the decrease of the tariff for electrical energy.<\/p>\n

The former head of the Authority, Victor Parlicov, declared in a press-conference that the tariffs for electrical energy are set by the institution without any constant logic, eroding the trust of the public opinion. He mentioned that there is still no ground to decrease the tariffs.
