On December 8th, the acting President of the Republic of Moldova signed the decree to appoint Eduard Harunjen in the position of Prosecutor General for a mandate of seven years.<\/p>\n

Harunjen took oath of office on the same in front of the President Timofti and the members of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors, those who elected him<\/a>. The ceremony was done without the press and the whole appointment was announced through a press-release.

\nEduard Harunjen held until recently the position of first deputy Prosecutor General and exercised the function of interim Prosecutor General, after the former one resigned on February 26th<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moldova’s President-elect, Igor Dodon, blamed his former counter-candidates Maia Sandu and Andrei N\u0103stase for not allowing him to be inaugurated and thus favoring a prosecutor of Plahotniuc:
\n“This is the result of blocking, Maia Sandu and Andrei N\u0103stase! You have a prosecutor now. It is your fault. Probably the Coordinator is applauding you now”<\/em>, posted Dodon on his Facebook page.
