On December 1st, the agreement on opening of a civil NATO center<\/a> in Moldova was approved by the majority of members of the Moldovan Government, with the exception of the Gagauzia autonomy bashkan, Irina Vlah.<\/p>\n

Even if the Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur mentioned that the agreement does not violate under any form the neutrality status of Moldova and that similar NATO centers are working in Ukraine, central Asian countries, Russia and Serbia, Gagauzia leader was negative of the decision.<\/p>\n

Vlah asked the other Government members to vote against, because the “document attacks the neutrality of the Republic of Moldova”:
\n“The Constitution of the Republic of Moldova clearly states that we do not enter any military blocks. I also want to draw attention to the fact that, since the moment of approving this document, Transnistria will further distance itself and it is unknown is we may see any solution of the conflict at the horizon”<\/em>, said Vlah.
\nMoreover, the bashkan thinks that the move would be opposing Russia:
\n“I think that the opening of the NATO office is not a question of the security of our country, but a political tool, through which Moldova will be used to oppose our strategic partner- the Russian Federation. I propose to decline the project. Otherwise, I will vote against”<\/em>, added Vlah.<\/p>\n
