The Center for Journalistic Investigations<\/a> published an analysis of the funds directed to finance Maia Sandu in the electoral campaign for Presidency of Moldova.<\/p>\n

Sandu’s campaign was financed with about 1,5 million lei through Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) she leads from both physical and juridical persons.
\nAbout 500 people, including civic activists, human rights advocates, professors and businessmen donated to PAS an average donation of 2200 lei, ranging from 20 to 70000 lei. 102 donations are above 5000 lei. Three persons donated 10000 lei each, one donated 15000 lei, another- about 20000 lei, another- about 22000, another- 25000 lei, another- 55000 lei. The biggest donor is Artur Gur\u0103u, the founder of Granat interactive agency, who says he contributed to Sandu’s online promotion:
\n“They told me that they don’t have sufficient resources to do this and I decided to make a donation”<\/em>, says Gur\u0103u.<\/p>\n

One can find 8 economic agents among the donors of Sandu that contributed between 100 lei and 100000 lei. Two companies specialized in agriculture donated 150000 lei together, while Moldavian Airlines transferred 50000 lei to PAS.<\/p>\n

Due to the legal restrictions, Sandu could not finance her own campaign because she obtained the money abroad, during her previous job at World Bank.
\nThe legal restrictions for donations were also the cause for a Moldovan living in Italy to sue PAS for not receiving his money from abroad, ultimately rejected by Constitutional Court.
\nAnother case of problematic donations occurred when Veaceslav Galoi, a close proxy of Ilan Shor, made 4 transfers of 70000 lei each to PAS<\/a>. The donations were rejected due to integrity reasons.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Socialist’ Party of President-elect Igor Dodon is having a judicial debate with Rise.md<\/a>, who published the investigation of flows of money from an off-shore based in Bahamas Islands to a company in Moldova, which then loaned money to Socialist sponsors and donors, who turned them to the party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
