On November 25th, the Anti-Corruption Prosecution Office of Moldova announced<\/a> that it was reported about the finding of two cellphones in the cell of the businessman Veaceslav Platon<\/a>, accused of money laundering in the Moldovan banking system.<\/p>\n

The two cellphones were reportedly found in Platon’s cell in Prison nr.13 on November 2nd after a search authorized by the judge of Platon’s case. The prosecutors learned that the cellphones were there since September 2016.

Prison nr.13 located in the edge of the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u<\/p><\/div>\nIn this sense, the anti-corruption prosecutors arrested the former chief of Prison nr.13, Igor Juval\u0103, who resigned on November 11th. Juval\u0103 is accused of abuse of service in facilitating illegal communication to detainees.<\/p>\n

The former head of Prison nr.13 is retained for 72 hours. He might be given a fee of 650 to 1150 conventional units or imprisonment up to 3 years, with the ban of occupying public positions for a period between 2 and 5 years.<\/p>\n

Former PM of Moldova, Vlad Filat, previously complained about bad conditions of detainment in the same Prison nr.13 to the Appeal Court who made Juval\u0103 pay a fee of 500 lei for violating detention rights, including limiting time for phone calls, visits of the family and the lawyers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
