The G\u0103g\u0103uz people had to choose 35 deputies out of 126 candidates. <\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, only 17 deputies were confirmed, because of low turnout in three districts, while the other are to be confirmed after the second round of elections. Thirteen candidates claim they are independent, two belong to the Party of Socialists and one is supported by the Democratic Party. <\/p>\n<p>The total turnout for the People&#8217;s Assembly election was 42,8%, the lowest in the last 10 years.<br \/>\nMihai Sirkeli, the president of Piligrim-Demo association, thinks the low turnout was caused by the coincidence of the local campaign with that of general Presidential election.<br \/>\n&#8220;The first electoral campaign, the Presidential one, distracted the attention of the citizens from G\u0103g\u0103uzia from the elections of the People&#8217;s Assembly. The Electoral Commission of G\u0103g\u0103uzia had little time to inform the citizens&#8221;, declared Sirkeli for Gagauzinfo.md.<br \/>\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/gagauzia_prezenta_vot.png\" width=\"800\" height=\"400\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to the report &#8220;The activity of the People&#8217;s Assembly from the perspective of citizens&#8221;, conducted by Piligrim-Demo in 2016, the citizens are not satisfied by the activity of the institution and do not feel the benefits of laws adopted by the Assembly. The same attitude could be found when asking the voters from 36\/3 voting center from Comrat. <em>&#8220;Here, in G\u0103g\u0103uzia, there are problems like in the entire Moldova: lack of jobs, low salaries. From the People&#8217;s Assembly I don&#8217;t have any expectations, hopefully it won&#8217;t be worse&#8221;<\/em>, said Tatiana, an accountant and mother of a four-year old girl.<\/p>\n<p>On the steps of the same polling station, an old man smokes a cigarette. <em>&#8220;Here, everything depends on Chi\u0219in\u0103u, not on People&#8217;s Assembly. All the money goes to the capital. We can see that little is allocated and invested&#8221;<\/em>, says Anatol, with a Gagauz song playing in the background.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Our problem is that we lack economy. Moldova is a wine country and the Europeans allow us to sell it to them, but only with their conditions. The Russians receive everything, but it is not allowed there&#8221;<\/em>, continues the old man with discontent. According to him, the tensioned relations between Chi\u0219in\u0103u and G\u0103g\u0103uzia is an obstacle in the development of the autonomous region. <em>&#8220;After the election of a new People&#8217;s Assembly, I want more understanding. I am not a Moldovan, but I worked with them, they are good people. I want everything to be like in the 70s, when the Moldovans, Russians, Gagauz, Bulgarians were together.
