The military troops of the separatist Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic have been having exercises for more than one week.
\nNovostipmr.com reports<\/a> that the exercises started on September 30th with the shootings of the artillery units, which, according to local major Roman Mereneanu, were practiced to sharpen the skills till the point of “automation”.<\/p>\n

On October 3th, the local defense minister, general-major Ruslan Paulesco, had to monitor the entire camp and the preparedness of the artillery units.

On October 7th<\/a>, the representatives of the military units, groups of control and those of the communication squads participated in a joint exercise of communicating and ensuring channels for proper execution of orders. <\/p>\n

On the same day, troops of the local KGB exercised<\/a> parachuting and field shooting with the use of medium and big caliber of weapons, \u0420\u041f\u0413-7 and \u0421\u041f\u0413-9 grenade launchers.

According to the leader of the separatist republic, Evgeny Shevchuk<\/a>, the military exercises are directed towards “the protection of the population against extremists”. On September 30th, Shevchuk signed<\/a> the decree for obligatory recruiting of men between 18 and 17 years old for their service in the armed forces of the region.<\/p>\n

The motorized shooting troops of the Operational Group of Russian Troops also had a military exercise<\/a> on September 27th, involving more than 300 Russian regular soldiers and over 30 units of tanks and vehicles. The stated cause of the exercise was to “prepare soldiers for the peace-keeping tasks in the Security Area”.
