The 120 kilometers long and 600 millimeters wide pipeline would allow Moldova to import more natural gas from Romania, thus enhancing the security of energy supply.<\/p>\n<p>The EBRD is reportedly working with several partners in the preparation of the project, including with the EU, the Energy Community, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.<br \/>\nMoreover, the EIB is considering to provide a parallel sovereign loan and the EU has committed to grant cofinancing for the project worth 93 million euros. <\/p>\n<p>The loan will be taken by the Government of Moldova, who will transmit the financing to the operator VestMoldTransgaz for implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/signed-moldova-will-buy-romanian-gas-beginning-from-2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">previously built pipeline of 43 km<\/a> from the Romanian city of Ia\u0219i to the Moldovan city of Ungheni was able to transport up to 1,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas but it was finally agreed to deliver only 50 million cubic meters per year, due to the low price of the Russian gas provided by Gazprom. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"span-reading-time rt-reading-time\" style=\"display: block;\"><span class=\"rt-label rt-prefix\">Reading Time: <\/span> <span class=\"rt-time\"> &lt; 1<\/span> <span class=\"rt-label rt-postfix\">minute<\/span><\/span>The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced its intention to finance with 41 million euros the construction of the Ungheni-Chi\u0219in\u0103u gas pipeline from Moldova.
