On September 27th, the Socialist MP and Presidential candidate Igor Dodon submitted a censure motion against the Filip Government to the the Parliament of Moldova. According to him, the motion of no confidence against Pavel Filip and his cabinet addresses the recent vote<\/a> of the Government for seven laws in the banking sector. One law specifies that 13,5 billion lei will be paid during 25 years to the National Bank as obligations to the unpaid loans of the three failed banks.<\/p>\n

The motion is reportedly supported by 37 deputies- 24 Socialists, 5 Communists and 8 Liberal-Democrats. Dodon is waiting for the Parliament to bring Filip in front of deputies next week to respond to the motion. <\/p>\n

Iurie Leanc\u0103, leader and Presidential candidate of the European People’s Party, declared that he and his colleagues (3, in total) wouldn’t vote for the censure of no confidence against Filip Government, claiming that “Igor Dodon, as usual, plays the card of destabilization”. On the other side, Leanc\u0103 said that the measure of paying out the obligations to National Bank should have been done after putting every effort into recovering the money. <\/p>\n

Both the Parliament speaker, Andrian Candu, and the Prime-Minister Filip reacted to the statement of the opposition, saying that it manipulates the public about the sum and the payment method. Candu and Filip motivated again the payment of “obligations” as a part of agreement with the International Monetary Fund. <\/p>\n
