The decision was made at the demand of the prosecutor Andrei B\u0103ie\u0219u, satisfied by the outcome, whereas the lawyers of Shor said they would contest it at the Appeal Court. <\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Prosecution keeps to tell that Ilan Shor might leave the country or destroy some proof, etc. We qualify these allegations as being absurd. He collaborated with the penal investigation body, he brought proof in his defense&#8221;<\/em>, declared Denis Ulanov, Shor&#8217;s lawyer. <\/p>\n<p>On June 24th, the judges from the Buiucani Court of Chi\u0219in\u0103u issued a mandate of arrest for 30 days for Ilan Shor, and then prolonged it with another 30 days on July 21st.<br \/>\nThe controversial businessman and mayor of Orhei, Ilan Shor, was retained on June 22nd for 72 hours. The arrest was applied after a hearing in a case where he is a suspect of tax evasion and money laundering of big amounts. On August 5th, he was placed under house arrest by the Appeal Court of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, but required to not leave Moldova and be present anytime the court holds a session.<\/p>\n<p>The General Prosecution Office of Moldova is investigating the dubious transactions between Banca de Economii, Banca Social\u0103 and Unibank in December 2014. Ilan Shor was the main controlling figure in the three banks.<\/p>\n<p>Shor is accused of obtaining more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moldova.org\/en\/ilan-shors-case-defrauding-laundering-5-billion-lei-banca-de-economii-sent-court\/\" target=\"_blank\">5 billion lei<\/a> in illegal loans from Banca De Economii and laundering them through offshore companies.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"740\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fXyEbWX5fR8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of Shor&#8217;s protesters marched on the main boulevard of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, blocking it partially, all the way to Buiucani Court.
