On September 13th, the Municipal Council of Chi\u0219in\u0103u reunited in a session to vote the proposal to organize a local referendum to dismiss the mayor of the Moldovan capital, Dorin Chirtoac\u0103. <\/p>\n

Only 32 out 51 counselors were present at the session. Those of the Liberal, Democratic parties and the Liberal-Democrat Ghenadie Dumanschi were absent, intentionally or not. The 32 counselors voted unanimously for the referendum, but the decision wasn’t adopted, because the needed amount of votes would be at least 34. <\/p>\n

The initiative follows a decision of the Appeal Court of B\u0103l\u021bi to cancel<\/a> the civic initiative to start a referendum against Chirtoac\u0103<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Liberal Dorin Chirtoac\u0103 has been the mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u since 2007, now doing his third term in office. Having the support of the majority of counselors from the City Hall, Chirtoac\u0103 managed to grab full control of Chi\u0219in\u0103u\u2019s management.<\/p>\n
