On September 10th, the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova came up with a position<\/a> of the investigation published by Rise Moldova<\/a>, which reveals the presence of dead people in the national register of voters (RSA). The electoral body announced it would start an immediate control procedure to check the actuality of the data from the register. <\/p>\n

The Commission is trying to excuse itself with the claim that the journalist from Rise had possessed information dated with the last elections, yet not updated. “At the moment, we can declare, with all the certainty, that, to our regret, only 3 out of 100 persons, presented in the list made public, are still in the RSA”, reads the press-release of the body. <\/p>\n

The Electoral Commission promises to examine the case and to initiate complex checks with the specialists from Civil State Service and “Registru” State Center for Informational Resources. <\/p>\n

The up-mentioned investigation conducted by Rise journalists revealed that some 100 dead people, out of 300 checked, could participate at the Presidential elections on October 30th. The investigation involved checking the names of people buried at the Sf.Laz\u0103r and Central cemeteries. Some famous personalities, like the film director Emil Loteanu or actor Mihai volontir, were found among all the other deceased voters.
\nThe journalist Constantin T\u0103nase, father of the current head of the Constitutional Court Alexandru T\u0103nase who would validate the elections’ results, would be able to vote too, despite being dead for two years. <\/p>\n

The journalists mention that, before publishing the investigation, a part of the deceased voters were erased during September 8th from the register, probably because of the hundreds of entries of the Rise investigators from one IP address. <\/p>\n

The electoral register<\/a>, which includes now more than ever before (3,237,032 people) had proved before to be wrongly formed and badly updated (sometimes with names of dead people within) at the elections from 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2015. Thus, the results of 2014 census<\/a> is badly awaited by the society in order to update the register.<\/p>\n
