On August 25th, the National Bank of Moldova adopted a decision<\/a> by unanimous vote to adjust the short-term monetary policy.<\/p>\n

Thus, the central regulator of the monetary policy of Moldova maintains the base rate at the level of 10% annually, with 13% for overnight loans and 7% for overnight deposits.
\nAt the same time, the National Bank team decided to maintain the required reserves ratio from financial means attracted in freely convertible currency at 14%, while those attracted in MDL and non-convertible currency are kept at 35%.<\/p>\n

According to the press-release, the annual rate of inflation was 7,0 percent in July 2016, decreasing by 0,4% compared to June<\/a>, but still above the upper limit of the range of +-1,5% points from 5% target.
\nAccordingly, the annual rate of core inflation in July 2016 was 8,8%, decreasing by 0,5% compared to June.<\/p>\n

The Bank notifies about the continuation of negative developments in the economy:
\n“The unfavorable development of macroeconomic indicators in June 2016 shows negative signs related to the economic activity dynamics in the second quarter of 2016 and reveals the persistence of disinflationary pressures from the aggregate demand.<\/p>\n

In June 2016, exports decreased by 12,9 percent compared to the same period of 2015 and imports by 7,7 percent. Industrial production recorded a level of -2,1 percent and the volume of transported goods recorded a level of -9,4 percent. At the same time, the turnover of retail trade increased by 4,2 percent, while that of trade in services decreased by 7,0 percent.”<\/p>\n
